This year at Horst we introduced Collective Care, a harm reduction and community care programme to make the festival a supportive and welcoming place for all. Perhaps you saw the team in pink vests during the weekend, or even sought them out yourself in a difficult moment.

Collective Care also included a dedicated restorative space, for which we commissioned a series of mixes from DJs with a keen understanding of nurturing sound: Russell E.L. Butler, Alex Rita, and Lou Drago.

Patricia Wolf is a musician, sound designer and DJ, residing in Portland, Oregon. Wolf uses electronics, voice and field recordings to produce non-linear compositions that draw listeners to a hypnotic inner world. Her use of melody and repetition manipulate the listeners' perception of time, conjuring vivid textures and atmospheres. In 2022 she released her first two solo albums, “I’ll Look For You In Others” and “See-Through”.

“For this mix, I set out to create a flowing stream of music that one could put on at bedtime. My hope is that this music can help others drift into a vivid dreamland.”

ZEPTER 28 - Luis Martin Gonzalez & Instruções Rituais - 28/05/23

https://soundcloud.com/andrepahl is a freelance creative coder with graphic design background. After 10 years abroad –Amsterdam and Mexico City– he settled in Berlin. There, he began a mix series of pitched down cinematic journeys called 'Safari', often constructed in many sonic layers. He's a true Gemini, always up for some mischief and new adventures when travelling with friends and like-minded peeps. He hates waiting, certainly in queues. His only phobia is of spiders above a certain size, which will def occur in this mix at some point. Furthermore, it's again a fierce collage concept. A sultry, mad, flaming, desperate river of no return.....

» This sonic landscape is a musical odyssey into a distant realm and its hidden memories — a tribute to nature's relentless brutality as well as its beauty, to an everlasting cycle of of extreme conditions that shape an unforgiving landscape. Imagine gnarled, sun-bleached trees shrouded in mist while countless creatures crawl beneath their twisted roots, and with every overturned leaf, a new microcosm emerges, revealing the intricate beauty amidst the savagery. It becomes difficult to tell whether the sky or the abyss lies above or below. 

What you hear is a collage of ethereal voices and sounds, fusing echoes of the past with whispers of the future. It is also a metaphor for an inner journey. Joy and sorrow shake hands, love, decay and renewal intertwine — a tapestry woven from the strands of existence, representing the unbridled power of the subconscious. «
