Toribio’s got something for your soul—and dat ass. The charming DJ, producer, and multi-instrumental music maker affectionately known as “Papi” in the scene brings people together for his BDA parties where the motto is "Bring Dat Ass, and your feet will follow.” 

A force of nightlife, Toribio has shared the decks with the likes of Danny Krivit, DJ Seinfeld, Francois K, Eli Escobar, Andrés, and Ash Lauryn to name a few. Toribio’s spirit shines bright behind the decks, but he also displays his musical prowess as leader of his rotating collective of musicians, Conclave, whose brilliant self-titled LP released on Love Injection Records to critical acclaim. Conclave is a reminder of the powerful omnipresence of Afro and Latino sounds and instruments, which layers effortlessly with Toribio’s easy, sweeping tenor, and courses to an electrically charged conclusion. Tracks from Conclave have been remixed by renown producers such as Louie Vega, Photay, and musclecars

Toribio regularly plays in various clubs across New York, including Nowadays, Elsewhere, Good Room, Knockdown Center, Bossa Nova Civic Club, and Le Bain and holds down a monthly show at the Lot Radio. Native to New York, musclecars is a DJ / Producer duo consisting of Brandon Weems and Craig Handfield. As musicians, they equally share an admiration for the artform. Their desire to blend genres and express their appreciation for music is focused around their community- the end goal is to bring people together. Through a regular stream of high quality mixes, they have begun to turn heads in underground circles.

In 2018 they launched ‘Coloring Lessons’, a party that was aimed to add value to their city’s nightlife culture. While the party and sound is not genre specific, it is heavily focused around house, disco, jazz, and soul, embracing the musical elements of their black and brown ancestors. The monthly party's intention is to bring New York City's dance music scene back to what it was during the golden era of NY nightlife. They aim to spread the music that has been influential to them, and share it with a younger generation of their peers.

Soul Summit is a New York institution. The DJ trio have been putting on a summer festival in Brooklyn's Fort Greene park for well over a decade now, and those gatherings have become a yearly house music pilgrimage for fans from all over the Five Boroughs. The party embodies the ethos of house music: free for everyone, open to families both blood and chosen, a place where everyone is welcome to groove (or just relax) to uplifting, old-school dance music with inspiring lyrics and bumping basslines.

Sadiq Bellamy, Tabu and Jeff Mendoza have created something truly special, and more and more lately, they've been spreading their gospel outside the park, too. They've become residents at Nowadays, where this RA Podcast was recorded as part of a Mister Sunday party. It was also released as part of the Mister Saturday Night's cassette box set to celebrate the party's 15th birthday. This one features an hour of the cassette's 90-minute runtime, plus an additional 20 minutes only available here. It captures this trio at their soulful best, letting vocal tracks play out long and leisurely with expert blends and gentle transitions. The feelings of warmth, love and welcome land with every kick drum and flow through every bassline.

" Julion De'Angelo is a multi-instrumentalist, producer and DJ raised in North Carolina and based in Detroit, MI. Playing bass, cello and drums across many genres, from free jazz to metal, to noise and punk, has fortified De'Angelo's musicianship and cultivated a constantly evolving sound rooted in the Black American experience. With a steady stream of releases, De'Angelo has cemented his ethic as an adventurous sonic innovator both celebrating and pushing beyond the dancefloor with fearless and moving compositions. 
His acclaimed debut was a joint EP with Thomas Xu, "Roots That Talk" released on the legendary, Sound Signature label in 2017. He introduced the world to his genre defying rhythms and unique percussive exploits on "Stand on Your Square" for Tone Log. Collaborating with Viola Klein, he crafted two remixes for Meakusma, offering hypnotic, Detroit flavoured meditations grounded by Afro Cuban drumming. His 2021 EP for Japan’s Freedom School Records presented an experimental and playful sonic exploration that begins on the dancefloor and ventures out into freeform Black experimentation.
 Over the last 3 years De'Angelo has solidified his position as a world-class selector, worthy of carrying the Detroit torch. He has recently DJ'd at renowned venues and events such as Boiler Room, Meakusma Festival in Belgium, Tresor/Globus Berlin, The Hydra at Printworks London, Nowadays NYC and Underground & Black Detroit, contributed to iconic parties like Music Gallery, Black Music and Roots That Talk, alongside radio sets and mixes featured on esteemed stations such as NTS, Hor Radio, Kiosk Radio Brussels and Lot Radio. Forever connecting with his roots, he actively engages with African, Afro-Cuban, and Puerto Rican drum & dance troupes, fostering community connections and cultural exchange.
De’Angelo’s 2023 EP for his label, Maybee Hill Music, reflects his ever-evolving pursuit of fresh sounds and musical exploration. De'Angelo continues to make an indelible mark on the world of music as he challenges conventions and reshapes the sonic landscape with each electrifying performance, impassioned collaboration and distinct composition, honouring the transformative power of Black expression and pushing it forward."

"Art and music are the same, they're just different dialects." The Chicago house music legend talks about co-curating the photo exhibit Walk The Night and nightlife's '90s heyday. 

Ron Trent grew up in Chicago, where he dreamed of being a musician from a young age. He would end up becoming one of the architects of the Chicago house sound and working alongside contemporaries like Chez Damier, and across the pond, Basic Channel. His label, Prescription Records, became a renowned purveyor of the deep house sound. He spread his vision from the American Midwest to New York, Europe and beyond. 

In this talk recorded live at Miami Art Week, Trent talks to Resident Advisor music critic Kiana Mickles about the songs and dance floors that shaped him in this early part of his musical trajectory. In addition to playing some of his favourite jazz, funk and disco songs, he reflects on clubs like Studio 54, Paradise Garage and The Warehouse, which he claims matured him as an artist and irrevocably shaped the trajectory of club culture. Trent was instrumental in co-curating an exhibit called Walk The Night (which premiered at this multidisciplinary event), a photographic homage to these spaces and other historic clubs around the world.
