Keenan Orr has been a mainstay in Washington DC’s underground dance parties and clubs since the ’90s, including Buzz (DC) at Nation, Red, and Club Five. He has also landed residencies at a number of clubs around the city, including Marvin and Eighteenth Street Lounge. Over the past few years, the Washington DC native has performed for promoters in cities across the United States, Vancouver, Toronto and Mexico City, as well as overseas, in Berlin, London and Reykjavik. Keenan, a former host on XM Satellite Radio, has also been invited to perform on Red Bull Radio, Rinse Radio, and The Lot Radio. During the pandemic, Keenan started a mix series, Alphabet Soup, highlighting his expansive knowledge in different genres of music. Known for his technical mixing and diverse musical selection, Keenan Orr makes a lasting impression on all that have experienced his sets.

"I wanted to emulate the vibe of my set at the NYC Pride XOXA party and show what I’ve been playing out lately. You’ll hear elements of the darker side of Chicago House and also some light, bouncy, Boompty House too. This mix is my love letter to New York! I hope you enjoy it as much as I had fun making it!"

 Here's something to mark 2022, to archive where I'm at on this hybrid- digital meets vinyl sound journey. 

Sometimes you listen to the recording and it reveals you had a real squeeze on the room and the vibes reflected are a pleasant surprise. As always listening back was a reckoning with my fIaws forcing me to deep listen and switch on some self acceptance til my mistakes become poetic mishaps meant to coax the message thru. I was touched seeing the divine feminine magnetizing in my sound and bringing the gurlz to the front of the dancing crowd at the Great Northern in San Francisco where this was recorded live - post-thanksgiving weekend in Nov 2022. Jazzy, sexy, manic, strange, grown, and very much me. Enjoy it!

He graced our booth at the IsBurning x Dekmantel SXSW showcase last year and he has been a key figure in Texas’s developing underground dance scene for the last ten years where he integrated activism with electronic music.

About his favourite track in the mix:
"One track that I am excited to include in the mix is Luca Lozano's "No Rewinds".  It has a mellow feel but actually is in a similar BPM to the other tracks I was considering. The delicate, emotive pianos and heavy bass create this beautiful tension.  It was a fun challenge figuring out how to place a more contemplative track in the middle of these rude and euphoric bangers."
