I played 17:00 - 20:00 on sunday night after @anouschkardt and before bunch of legends @djnobu_bitta @sandrien @dvs1 @dasha-rush @freddy_k_berlin @peter-kuschnereit & @jakojako_live 
The atmosphere, the vibe, the sound, the lighting and the dancers at this event were beyond 🤌🥰, one that will remain in my books for sure! Thank you to the two crews for hosting me amongst a crazy lineup!

The surface and depth of water, its playfulness and danger, its frozen and flowing forms, water is never still, always in motion. It is fragile, sensitive to even the slightest environmental changes, yet simultaneously powerful and dangerous. For this recording, I drew inspiration from Laozi’s Dao De Jing, particularly the concept of “The highest good is like water” (上善若水). The nature of water—benefiting all things without contention—deeply resonates with me. Water can softly wear down stone yet transform into sharp ice, and its mutable qualities have shaped how sound evolves in this recording.

On a deeper level, this philosophy influences how I approach life: facing its highs and lows with the softness and resilience of water, and embracing the unknown with quiet strength. I hope this piece resonates with you as much as it did with me during its creation.

For BASEMENT 008, we've turned things over to Holden Federico.   A favorite of the NY underground, Federico holds a reputation both for his comprehensive knowledge of techno's most obscure corners and for his capacity to channel his sprawling collection into DJ sets of exceptional poise and vibrancy. Raised in Pennsylvania, an early fascination with software production led him from live music into an obsession with track building and the limitless possibilities of electronic music. In 2020, he launched @90stechno.redux, an online platform that catalogues some of the finest, and often nearly-unheard, examples of the genre's golden age. Drawing heavily on the Detroit-Berlin axis, Federico exemplifies the focus and discernment of a purist, engaging with techno both as a true art form and as a near-spiritual discipline.

Welcoming the lovely Refuge Worldwide co-founder and dub-master @richard-akingbehin to the Animix series this week, with a beautiful journey of minimal house infused with his signature dub styles.

Clear in his DJ'ing, but also his work with @refugeworldwide, and his immaculately curated label, @kynant-records, Richard is an all-round classy selector, and a champion of community. Through his various outputs, his deep & considered knowledge and taste shines. 

Richard always impresses me with the diversity of moods he presents via his DJ'ing, hybrid collaborations with legend Tikiman, b2bs with other legends like livwutang, and his label - a diversity that's always strung together with his incredibly distinctive psychedelic, soothing dub formula.

Chanel distills her boundless passion for full-spectrum psychedelia into this enchanting mix, which paints verdant and hypnotic hues while maintaining an effortless sense of buoyancy throughout. Desde muy joven, ha tocado una amplia gama de estilos musicales, desde el tigrinya, la música eritrea de su herencia, hasta el hip-hop, el funk y el soul. Durante la locura del breakbeat en el delta del Rhein-Neckar, entró en contacto por primera vez con la música electrónica a los trece años. Poco después, decidió ponerse él mismo a los platos. 

Johnny D se convirtió rápidamente en un artista polifacético, activo en el Mannheim Collective junto a Ray Okpara, Nick Curly, Nekes y Federico Molinari. Organizaron fiestas house juntos y fundaron sus propios sellos discográficos Oslo, 8Bit y Cecille, alcanzando una gran popularidad en toda la escena.
