PMx 17 - Surgeons Girl

"Finally got round to uploading my mix from Worthy Earth Festival. Was a delight setting foot in the little sanctuary the W.E team conjured. A haven to spend time with some fantastic people, eat fresh delicious grub, dance to a perfectly curated live music and DJs and tuck into a multitude of workshops & talks. I couldn’t recommend it more. 

Playing in their trippy booth really allowed for a pure 2hr FLOW of rekkids to a room full of gorgeous movers. The set feels like a round up of stuff I’ve rinsed over the years mashed into one mix. A couple hours of house... dig in.
 
This years Worthy Earth will be on 20th - 22nd of September. Tickets will be released soon.

About the mix: House music has always struck me as a manifestation of profound, glowing joy and being remarkably human - sometimes in sharp contrast with murkier, shadowy wormhole rave music shrouded in fog and strobe lights - perhaps the dancefloor equivalent of bubbling laughter where other dance music is whispering prayer. It's this quality of warmth that is so exciting and comforting, and allows everyone to groove and celebrate life together, that makes house music familiar and unifying. I wanted to take this energy and sensibility but make it more dreamy, gauzy, atmospheric, and decorated with some twinkling sentimentality - hence dreamier pads, emotive synths, sparkling arpeggios, some trance-adjacent leanings and references. Particularly as the seasons change and we tip over into longer days, brighter light, and the beginning of blooming, I thought to conjure a vernal haze for waking up from cold winds to new, surprising sunrays - music for jostling yourself into big smiles with thoughtful, jubilant company.
