It’s Latin Heritage Month, an annual celebration of the cultures and contributions of Latin American and Hispanic communities. 

We’ll be commemorating the occasion with a series of mixes spotlighting regional styles and music traditions past and present, presented by a selection of contemporary artists. 

Today’s mix, which lands on Mexican Independence Day (16 September), comes from Mexico City-based juke producer Sonido Berzerk. Coming in at just shy of 90 minutes, his offering touches on all shades of club music and makes for a pretty irresistible listen.

Big J is a Taiwanese American DJ/producer, musician, and multidisciplinary artist. Born and raised in Baltimore, JiaLing was a classically trained cellist for 15 years before moving to New York in 2015. They currently have a monthly residencies on Balamii / Hyde FM in addition to their residents with collectives Ayi Ayi (Brooklyn) and WOE (Baltimore).

Notes on the Mix ///
"I recorded this in a take the night before heading out to Taiwan but was thinking about it for a while, included some of my staple tracks and dubs friends sent through. the focus for this mix was groove, as usual it spans a variety of genres/bpms with an orientation of house, breaks and electro."

They currently have monthly residencies on Balamii (London) / Hyde FM (San Francisco) in addition to co-running local collectives Ayi Ayi (Brooklyn) and WOE (Baltimore).

Super excited to bring on @archangelzhalo for the next episode of Planet V. This impromptu b2b was recorded during a friendly visit by Archangel and Xayn Naz. With a dozen or so blends that sent literal chills down my spine, Archangel and myself rinse out 2hrs of East Coast slammers and left field bangers.

Archangel is an incredible DJ and producer floating between Richmond VA and NYC. She organizes BODYHACK a community event at Nowadays that does important fundraising and awareness for the trans and non-binary community. It was a real pleasure having someone so passionate about music and community work roll through the Particle FM studios (my apartment) to record a mix.
