I’ve been experiencing a lot of anxiety (as I’m sure many are) with the uncertainty of whats to come. I’m learning to accept that it’s ok to not feel ok and that with time things will change but they will also eventually get better. 

I needed an outlet this week to release some of that tension and the best way I know how to express myself is through music. So with that, I want to share with you all my TEXTURES mix. All of the sounds selected in this music have an element of layered sounds and audio textures that I find aurally therapeutic. It also incorporates my love for house music and in general anything sexy, soulful and dancey. Including tracks from some of my faves @mbootyspoon @acmemo @honeydijon @kerri-chandler @roberthood and more 

Take a break from staring at your screen, put this mix on and let your ears feel.

Textures

As I’m having to spend all of my time indoors, I keep thinking about what an outdoor paradise looks and feels like. A big part of paradise to me is the feeling of harmony. And my idea of harmony is about the acceptance and coming together of my different moods and desires. The dissonant bongos, echos and varying genres of music in this mix are meant to reflect that. Whether people enjoy this mix in isolation or with people, I just hope that it makes them smile simply because of the song or because it made them think of someone.

DONIS pronounced (DAH-NIS) is an Afro Dominican NB DJ/Producer born and raised in New York. Their style is rooted in New York's soulful roots, playing parties like Soul In The Horn and Uptown Vinyl Supreme. They found their way into the Brooklyn rave scene through the rise of Half Moon, a renowned radio station in Brooklyn, playing at raves like Technofeminism and Hardcorset. In 2020 they released tracks on two critically acclaimed compilations, Coloring Lessons Volume #1 by Coloring Lessons Records and HOA010 by Haus of Altr. DONIS takes us aboard the Cookie Series #045 for an upbeat, soulful flight bound to make you hump and pump.
