Alexandra Onofrei known as Lexia Majora is a Romanian DJ based in Exeter UK, where she’s also doing her PhD (at the University of Exeter). Her research looks at the rominimal community and the rominimal genre, exploring questions of identity in this group. As a DJ, Lexia Majora played warm up sets for artists such as Daniel Avery, Mall Grab and Peach. She enjoys playing hard groove and Berlin techno, but also rominimal as this helps her to stay connected to her Romanian roots.

This mix contains some of Lexia Majora’s favourite rominimal tunes, and explores her love for wonky sounds as well as jazzy grooves and classical music.

Wyatt Stevens is at the forefront of a young Brooklyn scene that's taking the dance music world by storm. Alongside friends and collaborators such as AceMo, Kush Jones, and DJ Swisha, he's created a genre-agnostic movement that celebrates all facets of black electronic music, from old-school Detroit techno to the early days of jungle, drum & bass, and more modern strains of American dance music. His HAUS OF ALTR label has become a hub for this community, releasing his own material as well as his critically acclaimed AceMoMA project with AceMo and three massive compilations that define this new generation of producers. MoMA Ready makes dance music intuitively and without orthodoxy, where techno can suddenly morph into drum and bass and back again.

Advice for the DJs, producers and artists of our community: 
As a musician I believe it is key to always challenge yourself. I see a lot of DJs, and musicians in general (myself included), getting into this routine of practice where comfort in what you play takes priority over experimentation and the self-reflection of that practice. As DJs, our musical identity is often based around what genre of music we spin, but much like playing an instrument, experimenting with different forms of music can really impact the way you listen, play, and appreciate what you're trying to create. Aim to step outside your own norm and focus on a new technique, style, effect, process, and especially look to your community for inspiration. Experimentation is essential to all musical practice and DJing is no different. And prioritize community over everything, surround yourself with kind and open-minded individuals :) !
