Born from OOST club of north NL, the character of MSJY continually changes form. Taking early shapes in residencies with Noorderling, De School, Griessmuehle, and currently Oxi, she shifts to bill without compromising her sound and unafraid to provoke; her sets are characterised by pace, energy and a balancing of different moods. The extremely talented amuwa treats us to a 2hr set recorded live at lovejoy’s re:charge last month! Prepare to be swept through an echoing maze of tantalising textures as heavy hitting, tripped out bass and minimal psy summit towards a DnB finale.
As well as being a stellar dj Joshua has displayed a wonderful selection of productions, his “Force Majeure” ep needs no introduction getting countless plays throughout 2022. Rolling subs and propulsive drums are engineered for impact, couched within mutating synth arrays for truly hypnotic dance floor experiences.
On top of all this Joshua is responsible for the consciously curated party unsung in Sydney.

Describe in detail your favorite place in the club?

The dance floor, there's no club without a dance floor and no party without a solid dancing crowd (not quantity, quality) its where all the magic happens!

What is your favorite party/collective where you reside and why?

Reef and Subglow, both parties organized by dear friends. Reef is a special space for bass music on the edges centered in the best club ,Berghain. It's great seeing that music have place there and work so well. 

Subglow is a new party that is already cultivated an amazing community around it, its incredible to see energy on the dance floor at those parties.

If you could transfer all your knowledge from what you do now into something completely different, what would it be and why?

A have a secret wish ( well not anymore lol) to be a booker at a club or a festival, building balanced diverse line ups is an exciting task. Probably not easy as well.

What would you like to see in the future for the dance community?

Describe your walk around where you live

Residential suburbia mixed with really random nature moments. I live in the same suburb I grew up in so it's very familiar and nostalgic. Extremely FLAT landscape until you come across the creek nearby that creates a surprising amount of cliffy bush walks which also is one of Melbourne's most popular doof locations.

What would you like to see in the future for the dance community?

I want to see the scene down here reignite. We lost a lot of clubs over recent years and laws were introduced regarding illegal doofs. The general vibe has lowered a lot post covid. There’s a lot of reminiscing about the parties filled with sweaty dancers, naked bodies, insane outfits, etc. Parties that were just fun and freeing. I hope these things come back. They were definitely the reason I became obsessed with Djing.
