Styles Upon Styles @ The Lot Radio 04 - 16 - 2021

I recorded these, using only the Roland T8 drum machine, outside as it got dark.
The first one I did at the beach in Crete (130 bpm) and the second one, a week later, in a park in Vienna (120bpm).
These spontaneous sessions are so much fun, specially at such beautiful places.

Adesso Music taps South African heavyweights KingDonna and Argento Dust for powerful new remixes of Junior Jack & Pat BDS’s recent smash, ‘E.V.O’.

A rising force in Johannesburg’s house music scene, KingDonna has built a reputation for blending traditional African rhythms with forward-thinking house grooves, with releases on top labels from MoBlack to Nervous. His remix of 'E.V.O.’ is a perfect showcase of this duality – fusing heartfelt, soulful melodies with deep, driving grooves that will light up dancefloors worldwide.

Having cut his teeth as part of The House Junkies collective, Durban-born producer Argento Dust boasts a refined and emotive sound that has caught the attention of legends like Black Coffee and led to releases on Madorasindahouse as well as collaborations with Shimza and more. Dust’s take on ‘E.V.O.’ delivers a more atmospheric and stripped-back approach, with delicate synth and piano motifs raining down over hypnotic rolling drums.

Founded in 2019 by Junior Jack and his music partner Pat BDS, Adesso Music has become a beacon for club-ready, forward-thinking modern house music. With releases from artists like Flashmob, Wally Lopez, CASSIMM, Eldeanyo, Tim Cullen, AndThen, and many more, the label has cemented itself as a champion of both established and emerging underground talent and a definite one to watch.

A mix created by Loscil for the Style of Sound inspired by recent encounters, interactions, collaborations with the talented community of people Loscil knows and love. The sixth episode of 꿈 Kkum is mixed by 'Magna Pia' who is a Techno/Ambient artist based in Berlin. With his unorthodox sonic moods, a story of Magna Pia's dream continues during 2hours.

작곡가, 프로듀서 및 DJ로 활동중인 Hüseyin Evirgen는 잘 알려진 테크노 듀오 Cassegrain의 멤버이며, 2016년부터는 Mana Pia라는 솔로 활동을 병행하고 있다. 그는 이스탄불 대학교(University of Istanbul)와 오스트리아의 모짜르트 잘츠부르크 (Mozarteum Salzburg)에서 작곡, 피아노 및 전자 음악을 공부했으며, 20여년 동안 연극, 무용 공연 등 혼합 예술매체를 위한 음악을 작곡해왔다. 
Hüseyin Evirgen의 솔로 프로젝트인 Magna Pia는 현대적인 테크노 음악과 고대 상징주의의 결합에 포커스를 두고있으며, 섬세한 90년대의 테크노 레퍼런스들을 통해 격렬한 댄스 플로어를, 미묘하게 뒤틀린 사운드들을 통해 환상적인 분위기를 만들어낸다.

Hüseyin Evirgen is a composer, producer and DJ. He is one half of Cassegrain as well as works on his own solo material as Magna Pia since 2016.
He studied composition, piano and electronic music at the University of Istanbul and Mozarteum Salzburg. He has composed music for theatre, dance performances, and mixed media for almost two decades. 
As Magna Pia, Hüseyin Evirgen focuses on providing combative dance floor trips and unorthodox sonic moods with subtle 90s techno references while he keeps his interest in combining contemporary techno music with archaic symbolism.

Budget Cuts is excited to share Portland, OR based experimental composer Bardo:Basho’s second full-length album Alinea. Alinea is meant to evoke the idea of a non-linear history. “a” meaning not/without and “Linea” a feminine embodiment of linearity. The concept is derived from a personal history and identity which feel fragmented and this motif is reflected throughout the album. Alinea incorporates eclectic compositional and timbral styles held together by ethereal vocal performances. Expansive, intimate, and hypnotic, Alinea is a meditation on vulnerability.

Kirsten Thom started performing as Bardo:Basho while studying music at the University of Puget Sound. Bardo:Basho’s work fuses classical structure with experimental signal processing to create boundless otherworldly soundscapes that range from drone to techno. Bardo:Basho has shared the stage with visionaries like Jlin, Laurel Halo, Actress, and Yu Su while performing at festivals like Decibel and Upstream or at Kremwerk’s influential Research club night.

Evoking liminal spaces between the subterranean subconscious and the grandiose-yet-lethal cosmos of the psychedelic higher self, Strong Pill conjures soundscapes of ever-shifting scale, where fission-emission melodies and stalactite drips weave in and out of tectonic blocks of synth chords, while kick drums reverberate off the walls in what could be the skull, a cavern, or the boundaries of existence itself. Touch never forgets that at heart it's music that's meant to make you move, but where it moves you to depends entirely on the bounds of where you can conceive to go.

Strong Pill - Touch [JKTN074 Preview]

This mix was created in January of 2021 through a veil of deep reflection, mourning, and the desire to attain catharsis. All of these songs, many by absolute masters in their respective genres, feature a form of ecstatic vocal centered around the voice as a direct connection to the collective human soul and beyond. Gratitude has become a centering space for me to dwell in the midst of these troubling times. There are moments in this mix that bring me to tears of gratitude for the divine beauty and sheer power of human breath to give life to everything it touches, even within a cataclysmal storm.
