“hoja de ruta” is an exercise to make visible the musical languages of the serial, deep and infinite digging practice. Just as in the previous episodes the geographical question delineated much of the correlations between actors, in this 3rd chapter we navigate the Robert Fripp ocean and his tributary rivers. Fripp is one of those vortexes in which stars and planets from other galaxies such as Eno, Sylvian, Toyah, The Orb, King Crimson & more collide.
This show as a binnacle allows to register and diagram the process of research over time. Identifying patterns, trends and interconnection between actors as well as the possibility of retrospective analysis. Understanding these relationships help to solidify and restructure our knowledge, interests and obsessions, often perceived as isolated, floating or capricious, and internalize them as part of the same aesthetic search, guiding the next steps to future affinities.

For her first mix released in over a decade, Amber Gillen (immersive installation artist and visual artistic director for Interdimensional Transmissions) takes us on a journey through time—and ultimately ourselves. It’s also Samhain: the end of October where the boundary between the past, present, and future feels thin and energy flows thick. It reminds us of Keith Moxey’s suggestion that time might not “run at the same speed and density” in all places. Either way (or any way), it’s the right time to have Gillen take us through her sonic past across ambient, rock, and funk.

We’ve paired Gillen’s mix with a piece from Berlin-based, Sulaymaniyah-born Hiwa K. Hiwa, while originally a realist painter, now crafts sculptures, videos, and sounds that  “aim [not] for an accurate depiction of a reality that could be, but reinvent and transform the reality at hand.” Work such as Blind as the Mother Tongue unspool the debris of capitalism to better see how social structures like borders and time zones are reinforced. “The work I do is very much about reminding how many fingerprints we have onto each other,” Hiwa mentions, “[and] how much we are embedded into each other.”
