Mangup Festival @ Secret Dinner, 11.09.2021

"The secret is the pre-dawn road in the damp fog before sunrise, when you see only the first two steps, when not you trust. Trusting you. The trust of mystery clenches and beats in your fist, in the pocket of partners in crime. Here mystery is transforming into joy. In a child's joy, a secret desire, with all the money, instead of bread and milk by the list, to buy unlimited chewing gum.

And when you grow up, you forget that you dreamed about it. But you carry the gum wrapper with you. It smells like strawberries and banana, and you squeeze it fondly in your soul. And you don't even ask yourself, where does that tenderness come from? A secret. A skyscope.

You drop the bag on the porch, and then you rush to dig up the wrapper. The tree was big, and now you've outgrown it. There was a secret. Under the green bottle glass, covered with earth, it lays between the roots of the tree. It could only be shown to a few, only to friends. Only a boundless act of trust, when you know that a friend will not break, but will gladly share your secret. Each brought secret here: his art, his values, his belly. And bottom roll of the belly, which you don't usually show anyone, which is more intimate than the places standardly called intimate.

If we lived in the forest, we would decorate our secret with red lingonberries, deer moss, rowanberries and nuts, and if we lived by the sea, then amber, shells, bottled glass, rolled to matte in the surf. Here on Mangup, our secret lies in the curve of a grapevine, at the bottom of a tea cup, in the rhythm of music, in the beat of the heart.

The moon will light up the mystery and feel lucky to be guessed. Laughs and will change the focus of happiness. Because happiness is not a place, but a moving target.

“I have only this”, you will say and take the light out of your pocket. 
The darkness will cough back:
“With the light I can find the answer. Revelation will pass through the hidden truth. And memory will bring back forgotten days, beauty and pain.  Coming to light is pain, without pain there is no gain».

And we learn other people's secrets, entrusted to each other, they create space for light and kindness to heal the pain. We have had a difficult year. Mangup taught us friendship out of the belly not out of convenience or prestige. And we forgive each other. That's what we came for.

There are gaps in my memory, I don't remember you separately, a white gap instead of features. We have created a mycelium white on white and have each grown our own secret dear to our hearts. Not with words, but that which is beyond words, with the tip of smile only to you and with a movement of heart, only to me.

And I have a secret.  I've been growing it recently. My secret is that I know you love me too, but I won't tell you. Otherwise it's no longer a secret.

Ouïe Circle is Acid Pauli and Nico Stojan’s sublabel that provides a platform for the wider circle of friends and artists associated with Ouïe.

With the seventh release, we are treated to five exquisite tracks from a combination of Geju and Acid Pauli himself. 
Lead track Bird Box is a delight - a fidgety, elastic groove sets the tone, while esoteric sounds and textures punctuate the track to create its own little audio biosphere.

The original spans eight and half minutes, and feels almost too short. 
Also included are two remixes, both with their own individual takes on the track. Iorie’s remix straightens up the groove somewhat, becoming a serious midtempo chugger with beautifully realized arpeggiated synths and a bubbling, magical atmosphere. 
Ed Ed (who also appeared previously on Ouïe Circle 03) goes for more of a tropical workout - shuffling drums underpin a thick bass and lush, dreamy pads.

Elsewhere on this release, Geju offers up two new tracks. Monko is a low slung slo mo groove, that mixes infectious percussion with pulsing synth tones and ethereal leads. Anosino also mixes the worlds of sampled nature sounds with heavy kicks and a slinky, unpredictable arrangement - traversing the worlds of electronic and chill out music.
