I wrote this for a songwriting challenge. The theme was ‘Perspectives’. It’s based on the Simon and Garfunkel song ‘Wednesday Morning 3 A.M’. It’s written as the young girl who is sleeping in bed while her young lover is about to run after committing a crime. I’ve imagined her life recovering from the shock of him leaving and abandoning her, and how she lived her life in public service.  It’s a demo and I’ve tried to have that 60’s folk rock feel. It’s good to try different things I think. See what you think!  James.  Best with headphones!

At 3 A.M. 

30 years have passed, and the hurt still really stings
That feeling of abandonment, and the anxiety it brings 
You running from your crime, the poor decisions that you made
An empty bed, my broken heart, and the rent still to be paid 

I remember scraping ice from the inside of the window 
to see you on the street but it was just the New York snow
