Following on from the label's inaugural release, JFR's Secret Feelings welcomes Lucas Zárate to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Argentina, Lucas Zárate first emerged in 2022 with releases via Balkan Connection South America, Bekool Records, Droid9 South America and RYNTH. Immediately recognized for his organic and progressive sounds, the Tucumán resident would quickly earn the support of Gorje Hewek, Modd, Nick Warren and many more. 2023 has proved to be a breakout year for Lucas, building on the success of his early releases, the fast rising phenom has added trendsetting organic imprints Melody of the Soul, Peace Symphonies and RADI MIRA I LUBVI to his resume, while remaining a beloved DJ as part of his country's burgeoning nightlife. Now, continuing on an upwards trajectory, Lucas makes his debut on Secret Feelings with 'Esporas'.

The title selection sets the tone for the release and sits as one of Lucas' most distinctive tracks to date. Drifting further away from traditional organic templates, Lucas crafts a storyboard of robust rhythms, gated vocals and carnivalesque lead themes, where interwoven hooks work in a clever co-ax of sound, and an effects-laden break ties it all together for a powerful finale. Selection two 'Silk Serenade' continues the funkier lean of the EP, with well-carved, low slung basslines setting the foundation for a lively lead to percolate as percussion pushes momentum in the main break. Ghostly vocals add depth, space and perhaps most importantly a unique emotional response, perfectly setting the course for energetic final movement.

The EP's halfway point is marked by 'Leviatan', a track where phasing atmospherics and melancholic overlays create a canopy for looping percussive arrangements and arcane motifs to unite, in what is strong rhythmic drive. The main break lands appropriately and stays brief, simply building tension though modulation for what is an enthralling finale. The release concludes with 'Impetu' which offers a deeper more thought-provoking narrative, complete with a playful lead and free-form jazz-like sensibility. The main break proves to be the standout here with a captivating sequence gradually opening up into a drum flurried finale that should fair well with the more adventurous selectors out there. A fitting end to a sprawling collection of music from Lucas Zárate, an artist who not only makes an excellent Secret Feelings debut, but continues to impress and rise in the world of organic house. Highly recommended.

Paul Losev makes his return on 90watts after the release of his 'That Time' single earlier this year, and his remix for Hansgod a year ago. The US based producer also calls labels such as Where The Shadow Ends, Manual Deep and Be Adult Music his home.

If this double A-sider would have been released on vinyl then 'sex on wax' would have been the right description without a doubt. Paul's ability to write smooth and emotive songs clearly shows on the opening track 'Verticals'. 'Not Meant To Be' is a little bit more rough around the edges, especially in the second part of the track, but remains true to Paul's core signature sound.

An exciting new debutant to the Proton Music roster, Dennis Liu showcases his dernis, the kid production moniker with a quartet of original tracks. As a member of the San Diego-based Inquiry Collective, the US DJ is no stranger to the limelight with his performances behind the decks and as part of an annual desert party of epic proportions. Furthermore, as a production assistant to Claude VonStroke and Dirtybird through his azb.studio, dernis, the kid has production credentials few can rival. Featuring the vocal talents of fellow Californian and vocalist, Clara Jo, "Let Me Go" sets the stage with its rhythmic prowess, marrying the vocal with a sub-bass groove and tech house beats. "Maybe" maintains momentum with a steady 4/4 rhythm, adorned by Clara Jo's layered vocals, piano melodies, and a recurring title-infused phrase that crafts a lush sonic landscape. The mood mellows with "Mend" and its laidback arpeggios, organic snare fills, and sumptuous pads, evoking a sense of tranquillity amid subtle melodic variations. "Miss Me" finds vocals weaving seamlessly through atmospheric soundscapes, complemented by a groovy bassline, and punctuated by well-placed sound effects. The resulting effect is to create a truly mesmerising auditory experience. Finally, "Questions" entrances listeners with hypnotic rhythms and glitched vocals that evolve over its near seven-minute duration, building layers of vocal cuts that form their own melody as they pitch up and down, before a dynamic bassline takes centre stage, concluding the journey with a dazzling display of tech house mastery.

A combined total of over 750 production credits for some of the finest underground dance imprints has seen Gai Barone and Luke Brancaccio at the vanguard of electronic music for well over a decade. From JOOF Recordings and Zerothree to Bedrock and Sudbeat Music plus Gai's own Afterglow imprint, the Italian / UK Axis needs little introduction. With collaborative efforts on the likes of Renaissance, Selador and Guy J's Lost & Found, Gai Barone & Luke Brancaccio's Proton Music debut is a typically impressive reworking. Containing themes of "Maybe" while retaining the essence of the original's melodic character, the duo's unique production prowess is evidenced courtesy of cadenced stabs and sequenced arpeggio phrase with driving beat and shuffling hi-hat supplying top-line energy and dynamism. Using the breakdown to reveal the vocal phrasing more fully, a bassline pattern full of gravitas drops in the second half before the melodic patterns of earlier phases come to the fore to close out.

Through the "Organik" and "Sunsweat" EPs for Proton Music, Imran Khan's production credentials have never been in doubt. A series of remixes for Petar Dundov, GMJ, Dmitry Molosh and Sebastian Sellares between 2019 and 2023, have added to the UK star's portfolio as he returns with a suitably dynamic reworking of the title track. A hallmark rhythmic vehicle of heavy kick and deep groove supply the foundation for a muted arpeggio to supply hypnotic melodic variation, while vocal flourishes from Clara Jo pepper the 7-minute track. Luscious pads, sweeping effects and growling bass notes add to the aural collage with meticulous attention to detail to create yet another powerful reminder of Imran Khan's abundance of talent and technique.

From a storied city, youthful fascination saw Starkato "Wake Up" to electronic music. Blossoming with techno brilliance, fizzing synthesised lines crackle in summer lightning strikes. A menacing bassline looms large over Berlin, panning LFOs reveal an omnipresence against a powerful metrical backdrop. Cold and motionless, circuitry is brought to life in "Parada" where an analogue narrative continues through the German capital. Warm motifs pulsate in waves across ancient architecture as the beating heart of a city at European centre is mirrored in metronomic pulse.

Radiating light across the Mediterranean, Ampish shines brightly over Alexandria. Sonic waves glisten across the seas in percussive rhythms, a siren rouses all from night-time reverie. "Wake Up" reinterpreted in dynamic fashion from an Egyptian star in ascendance, as powerful chords and emotive patterns flourish. Returning with typical aplomb, Tantum brings "Parada" to life with passion and emotion. A rippling arpeggio explodes into life alongside powerful bassline presence and machine-gun fire percussion. Karlsruhe is the epicentre of creative virtuosity where rhythm and melody combine in symbiotic harmony.
