MORNING TRAVELER Walking In Circles

The latest release on Madloch’s Sound Avenue imprint finds the label presenting the third installment of its critically acclaimed ‘Correlation’ series. Conceptualized in 2017 with the intent of showcasing cutting edge electronic music, the inaugural edition featured a unique blend of rising talents along with industry veterans, resulting in a cohesive fusion of artists from across the world. At the time the label’s music policy was undergoing a shift, emerging into borderless realms and showcasing a broader spectrum of electronica. Unveiled two years later, the second installment furthered the label’s borderless vision with ten selections that touched on deeper, more contemporary sounds to laid back techno, all the way through to the label's progressive house roots. Now looking to make the series a biannual event, edition three continues the journey, leaving no stone unturned with a veritable smorgasbord of sound, covering a wide array of sonic space and featuring (in order of appearance) Ercos Blanka, TD, Gavin Rochford, Beije, amháin, Fermata Duomo, Dio S, MATE 0000 and Deepshader. Another unforgettable musical journey from Sound Avenue, one which perhaps foreshadows some future projects to come.

Ultravizion, Jelly For The Babies, Eleonora - Amber Lake [3rd Avenue]

Liam Sieker makes his much anticipated Soundteller debut with ‘Another Feeling’. A well known DJ in Australia’s nightlife, the Melbourne resident is a regular at trendy spots such as Killing Time, Loop Bar, Railway Hotel and Australia’s world famous Revolver Upstairs. Also an accomplished producer, the last calendar year has seen Liam showcase his music on Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden, Beat & Path and onedotsixtwo. Now stepping up for his first appearance on Soundteller, Liam presents a new single alongside remixes from Ian Dillon and Silinder.

Beginning with the original mix we find Liam crafting a deeper progressive sound. Anchored by a warm shapely groove and nice percussive details, it’s a series of icy overlays and rolling rhythms that begin to advance the narrative. Clocking in at nearly ten minutes in length the journey-esque feel of the track can’t be overstated, relying heavily on micro moments as opposed to big prominent ones. Progressively more emotive, a spiralling arp and ghostly phrases unite for an otherworldly vibe, before eventually opening up into a glowing break and heady finale.

The first interpretation of ‘Another Feeling’ is provided by Ian Dillon who returns to the label for his second appearance. The UK artist made his debut on the Polish imprint in 2017 with a remix of Danidu & Subandrio’s ‘Monsoon’. Now following 2020 releases on Another Life Music and onedotsixtwo, Ian lands back on Soundteller with a peak time take on ‘Another Feeling’. Driving and punchy from the outset, it’s tough groove carries a rolling presence as electric designs, vocal overlays and waves of percussion fill in the framework. Gaining momentum across the first act, lively arps add nicely to it’s energetic feel before eventually melting down into a spacious break and epic final movement.

Rounding out the release is Silinder who provides the second and final interpretation of ‘Another Feeling’. As a veteran of the progressive scene, the Irish artist lays claim to an impressive discography, highlighted by releases on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, Antrim’s Or Two Strangers and Proton Music. Having also been a mainstay of the Soundteller roster, Silinder now makes a welcome return with a groovy take on ‘Another Feeling’. Anchored by a warm, nicely contoured groove, there’s a smooth and effortless vibe from the outset. As drifting atmospheres descend over the framework, sweeping effects and tranquil motifs further tantalize the senses. A stripped down bridge in the first act does wonders to introduce new percussive elements, before the main break resets the groove for a purring finale. Dreamy stuff as always from Silinder, capping off another well rounded offering from Deersky’s Soundteller Records. Don’t miss it.

Another Feeling

Another Feeling (Silinder Remix) [Soundteller Records]

A growing force in the world of underground dance, Juan Pablo Torrez is a renowned artist in his Cali hometown and far beyond. Head of the impressive Clubsonica Records, his growing portfolio has seen music signed to Perspectives Digital, UV and JOOF. Following a 2017 remix for Particles, the Colombian makes his original EP debut. "Nia" is a pounding progressive house gem that bristles with menacing bassline and rolling percussive groove. A vocal cut adds stereo-panned spice before emotive melodies make their presence felt into the breakdown and onto a dynamic third movement. "Jara" continues the glorious driving power of its partner track as hypnotic rhythms and arpeggios lay the foundation for a filtered female vocal to sit atop. A rippling synth line adds intrigue and a strong bassline change immediately adds energy and emotion as the track reaches its zenith. Additional synth lines in the second half provide a touch of class and mature production prowess.

A Melbourne resident, David Leckenby has seen his career trajectory rise impressively since a 2016 debut for Crosslink Music. An artist who has seen his work allied to such impressive imprints as Soundteller Records, Consapevole and Emotional Content Recordings – with support from Hernan Cattaneo, Mariano Mellino and Andrea Cassino – the Australian's "Primal Connection" EP for Particles marked a notable highlight in February 2020 including a remix from fellow Melbourne residents, GMJ and Matter. Now returning, the David Leckenby remix takes "Jara" in a smooth organic house route that envelops the listener with relaxed groove and muted synth palette via glorious piano phrasing. A ticking percussive groove adds intensity while a series of counterpoint motifs play off the central motif; the result is an innovative and impressive remix.

Joining forces in 2018, Toronto based duo, Beije, have an impressive selection of releases under their belt for such blue-chip imprints as Nugget Music, Polyptych and Paul Hazendonk's Manual Music. Now making their Particles debut, the Canadian pair have created a wonderful reworking of "Nia" that uses the recognisable melodic elements of Juan Pablo Torrez's work while creating a new rhythmic framework and mid-range bass pattern. The vocal phrase so central to the original is reimagined in hypnotic patterns that criss-cross the stereo spectrum in dizzying fashion. The result is a strong Particles debut appearance full of Beije's "hypnotic rhythms and melancholic melodies".

An artist who believes in "carefully crafted and visualised music" to "express a story", Ivars Tillicks has been at the vanguard of the progressive house scene for well over five years with his Subconscious Tales soubriquet. Originally making his EP debut on the Suffused Music imprint in 2014, the Latvian artist has gone on to release regularly on the imprint. With almost a double century of production credits to his name, Subconscious Tales has seen his music signed to a plethora of high-profile imprints that include Balkan Connection, Lowbit and John 00 Fleming's JOOF.

A regular on Proton's labels, a debut for Particles saw the three-track "Twisted" EP released in June 2017, while a debut original EP for Proton Music saw the twin-track "Magnectares" EP arrive some two years later in July 2019. Remixes saw James Monro and Kasper Koman extend the range of the original EP while Subconscious Tales himself has been responsible for standout remixes of David Calo in late 2017 and Soulwerk's "Funchal" in mid-2020.

Now returning, "Dharma" is a high-energy offering that bristles with dynamic range as a fast-paced percussive top line and driving beat provide the perfect framework for muted and filtered chords to juxtapose themselves delicately against the rhythmic backdrop. Building in energy, a seismic sub-bassline rumbles across proceedings while a chorus of effects adds depth. A glorious array of melodic phrases reveal themselves at the mid-point before rhythmic dynamism hits its stride once more in the third movement combined with counterpoint melodic flow.

"The Saviour" continues the deep bassline of its predecessor, this time adding a bouncing groove that syncopates perfectly with hi-hat percussion and heavy kick. A beautifully filtered arpeggio arrives over the sonic horizon with ease, emerging with hypnotic grace before textured pads and soft vocal breaths add counterpoint progression at the breakdown. The grooved bassline so prominent in the first half once again makes its presence felt as it drops into the second half, to create a headshaking, dancefloor track.

The title track continues the deep bassline and melodic narrative of its partner tracks as a rasping, modulated low-end paves the way for another cadenced bass groove. Intricate motifs sit atop in perfect harmony as the track evolves elegantly over its near nine-minute duration. An earworm theme provides the central melodic focus as the track moves into its breakdown, complemented by a beautiful sonic arrangement full of light and delicate touch. Once again bassline dominance provides the foundation of the third movement as "Soulreaper" showcases grace, skill and craft.

A musical triptych see Subconscious Tales paint a picture full of life through his "Soulreaper" EP.

Having a release with us during 2020 through his stunning “Winter Flowers”, he now returns with another relaxed and sensational progressive production, this one named as “Good Wood”. We are always over the moon to see him back on the label and we know there are more to come. This is really fresh and melodic! 

On remix duty, Australia and Melbourne bound David Leckenby makes a welcome return to the label. He’s a producer that we always held high with his superb melodic progressive productions. This is yet another winner from the talented producer. Warm moods, melodic progressions and that superb atmosphere built to this stunning journey. It’s as brilliant as always and we are thrilled to see him back on our PHW Elements division. 

We are equally happy to see another return on the label as Ireland based Silinder makes another stylish return. A lot is said already about his music over the years and this is just another beauty from him, we let it speak on its own. A bit more stripped down, packed with some great elements to spice this release with yet another winner. He always takes us on a journey and this surely is one from start to finish.
