Ciao baby is a tribute to Shibuya-kei. Embracing their usual 60’s styled duet, one can imagine himself in the musical romance of <The Umbrellas of Cherbourg>. Edine intends to portray a lyrical encounter of the love of life and a reminiscence of Haruki Murakami’s <meeting the 100% girl>.
<瞧!寶貝>保留涉谷系音樂的色彩, 二人延續樂隊招牌式六十年代的溫柔對唱, 當中的音樂劇元素教人有感置身於<雪堡雨傘>的懷舊法式影畫戲。Edine想透過此歌描繪出如村上春樹小說裡渴望遇上百分百女孩那種幻得幻失的心情。

A lovers’ Waltz for Peter’s cousin. A farewell romance as in the movie of <Before Sunrise/Sunset>. 最後的華爾滋道出Peter表哥的真人真事。
天真不再漫瀾, 初戀情人快要嫁人, 十年後的今天只好變成在日出前終結的一夜戀愛。

單曲於2010年4月發表於國際人權組織的Peace網上籌款活動。
在60年代昴揚的編曲底下, Peter想表達出其對生活的某種希冀。

Alapati is an invented phrase. Alapati is a 60’s Agogo. 
You can say it when you sigh, or when you are high…. it’s almost an all-purposed phrase, an exclamation on your emotions and your life.
You can compare it to the French phrase “C’est la vie” ( It’s life), 
or to cats’ miaow…. you know cats have different emotions but all they say is just Miaow…
Where is it originated? The lyrics says: je ne comprends pas (I don’t know).
法國人常懶道 “死啦快(c’est la vie)”, 像貓叫一樣單調啍喵, the Marshmallow Kisses亦自圓其說創造萬用句”alapati”。曼妙的六十年代編曲, 簡潔的歌詞, 如果Serge Gainsbourg還活著, 他一定會說這是香港 lollipop。

The non lover duets of Peter and Edine intertwine bittersweet poetry with nostalgic melodies reminiscing a hybrid of French pop, Swedish pop, Bossa Nova, Semi-Classical and Shibuya-kei. Lyrics are primarily written in English with occassional work in other languages such as Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese and Italian. Their new album continues their cosmopolitan touch flooding with jangly guitar pop and bossa nova romance. One can easily immerse in this comfort with no effort.  

With the transnational background, their virtual bedroom pop finds traces of cultural diversities. With Edine based between London and Hong Kong, Peter between Montreal and Hong Kong, together with their cultural absorption in Tokyo and other parts of the world, the duo’s inspiration comes from no ordinary collection of daily life. This album is a patchwork of French 60s ye ye revolution (Ciao Baby & alapati), Japanese Otaku romanticism (Jazz for lovers Solitude for me), and Hong Kong post 80s youth rebel (Dreaming is fucking right) etc. If one cares to listen, you will find the praise of city alienation compared to the novel poetry of Haruki Murakami.
