~Épisode 1~ Je questionne dans ce premier épisode les différents préjugés racistes avec lesquels nous avons pu grandir, nous construire et qui seraient présents dans nos vie au quotidien. ⁣
⁣Je questionne également dans ce premier épisode cette invisibilité qui pèse sur la communauté sud asiatique en France et éventuellement en Belgique.⁣

Ep 1 Invisibles ou Absent.e.s

Cette semaine, je reçois Véra Kempf, la co-fondatrice de la galerie en ligne Singulart. 

Il y a quelques semaines, Véra m’a contacté pour me proposer de réaliser une curation d’oeuvres d’art autour des femmes et de l’abstraction. J’ai évidemment accepté, j’étais très excitée par ce projet qui m’a permis de découvrir des dizaines d’artistes talentueuses et autant d’oeuvres pour lesquelles j’ai eu de véritables coups de cœur. J’en ai retenu 30, qui composent une collection présentée sous forme d’exposition digitale sur le site internet de Singulart. Pour la voir, rendez-vous dans l’onglet “Collections” sur le site internet de Singulart, et évidemment sur les comptes Instagram de Singulart et de Femmes d’art.  

Bref, de fil en aiguille, Véra et moi, nous nous sommes mises à échanger, et j’ai eu envie de partager avec vous son parcours : c’est quoi de monter une galerie d’art en ligne, qui regroupe plus de 6500 artistes à l’international ? J’ai eu envie de savoir comment lui était venue cette idée, et comment elle l’avait mise en oeuvre. Surtout qu’au départ, vous l’entendrez, Véra n’a pas de cursus artistique ni entrepreneurial. 

Mais ce qui m’a beaucoup touché chez elle, c’est la façon dont elle est arrivée à l’art, à travers un coup de foudre pour un artiste et son oeuvre. Son amour de l’art et des artistes m’a aussi beaucoup parlé. “Empower artists”, c’est d'ailleurs la vocation de Singulart. 

Dans cet épisode, nous parlons donc de son parcours, entre Sciences Po et le lancement d’une galerie d’art en ligne, mais nous évoquons aussi les femmes artistes, écrivaines, qui l’inspirent au quotidien.

Épisode #14 - Véra Kempf - Co-fondatrice de Singulart

The Marv presents Malayalam Beats. 

For her debut EP, The Marv pays a tribute to her origins. 
The french-lankan beatmaker selected only samples from Malaylam movie songs to prepare this unique flavored work.
Such as a tea cultivator would do, she picked carefully beat "leaves"  that her father used to sing to her back when she was a kid (Once upon a time). 
Then she dried them out on the Akai sampler, and mixed those gems with that original boom bap that only a few know. She has been trained to the secret skills of Beatmaking by her Shaolin old timer husband retired in the Parisian mountains . 
Family is an important part of this EP.
Have a sip of this special blend, Indian-Lankan-Dancing-bittersweet-Malayalam beats, and watch out for new flavors to come.

To celebrate their first Northern Hemisphere tour, a prize slot at Glastonbury festival and a year of good work, The Bombay Royale are releasing Phone Baje Na, a bass-heavy, head-nodding Bollywood hypno-hop remix EP. Another hit from the pen of Bengal via Richmond songsmith Shourov Bhattacharya and guitar wizard Tom Martin, Phone Baje Na is Bengali for “the phone doesn’t ring” and is a haunting tale of unrequited love. 

Available on 12” vinyl and digital formats, Phone Baje Na features three remixes in a range of flavors. From Pasobionic’s jilted post-Dilla bounce to Damn Moroda’s aggressive bassrave futurism to Monkeymarc’s arpeggiated boom bap beatdown, the tempo never gets above 100 bpm but the vibe gets progressively deeper and darker. Also included is the shimmering original mix and a previously unreleased Bollywood psych funk instrumental Sleeping Giant. 

The Bombay Royale’s debut, You Me Bullets Love, released in 2012, established the band’s credentials both as one of the most original festival acts around and as the world’s leading interpreters and of classic Indian filmi music of the 1960s and 70s. Seamlessly blending surf, spaghetti cinematica, disco and Indian psychedelia, The Bombay Royale is what would have happened to music had Amitabh Bachchan and Quentin Tarantino made movies together. The Phone Baje Na EP gives their music an unexpected futuristic twist.
