We have said it before many times and we will say it again, the strength of a club or club night is built on the quality of its residents. One such club that has gone from strength to strength is Italian juggernaut After Caposile and Maggio has been integral in their undoubted success. While it is almost impossible to mention Maggio and not mention After Caposile there is much more to this artist than just his residency. For a starter, the Italian dropped the shimmering “Discoline” EP back at the peak of summer there is little doubt that this would have done serious damage out in the Garden inside After Caposile. Then came the dreamy “Just Landed” which made up part of  “The Sound Of Garden Selection Vol I” and proved that this promising producer has a bright future.

Moving on to Maggio’s mix for our InSession series and its grooves from start until the end and no question. A sound crafted from hours spent playing to some of the most up for it crowds we have seen and we can see why there is so much energy on the After Caposile dancefloors. Bounding basslines, punchy percussion and a vibe that sits so perfectly with the Italian night spot. If you have been to After Caposile you will know how essential Maggio’s sets are. If you are yet to experience this venue, then we are sure that this set will make up your mind.

A well renowned producer and selector in the scene, Martin has a discography thicker than a novel with releases on labels like Raw, Aesthetic and Pleasure Zone, his beats have moved people on dance floors all over the world.

He doesn't just stop there though. He also runs his own labels in OGE, Curtea Veche, Into The Wizard's sleeve and Spooky Loops. On top of that he has his on music mastering company In Haus Mastering.

Having had Martin play for us on numerous occasions, it felt only right that he joined the series and has delivered a mix to be listened to over and over again...

In today’s episode, we are joined by the Brisbane-based artist and @microminimalrecords co-founder - Meaney.  

From the stage to the studio, all of RJ’s musical endeavours draw from his twenty-two years of study in the field of music, culminating in his graduation from London’s prestigious Abbey Road Institute.

Today’s podcast showcases RJ’s protean approach to music - melding the sonic palettes of acid, electro, garage, jazz and of course - minimal house. It includes tracks from his latest album - out now on PhonicHouse1, unreleased tunes from his (soon-to-be released) album “1994”, unreleased edits, and some of his favourite tracks from microminimal records’ back catalog.

“After playing at The Cause’s closing party at the start of 2022, I took a step back from DJing to wrap up my studies, hone my audio engineering and develop a series of live hardware performances that I have since showcased at the likes of The Lion & Lamb and Boat Live. 

DJing largely took a back-seat until July of last year, when my passion for it was rekindled during the microminimal 4th birthday celebrations. I was lucky enough to play an extended b2b2b2b in Toronto alongside my dear friends - J.P Knowz, Drägun and Oolong. 

This mix draws from the happy memories at both of these gigs, as well as sharing some of my live tracks from 2022-2023 which I have now mixed to studio format. 

A big shout out to Dragutesku for the mastering on my tracks, the microminimal crew, my brother in Ukraine - Jordee, Heerz, Cuquex & Heimyl for the wicked remixes, the featured artists from our “Love For Ukraine” release - Alex Font, Archie Hamilton, Cooke, Noha, S.A.M, Subb-An, all the other artists whose music I’ve played & Quivr for the hospitality when recording the mix.

Up first for the SWEET DELIGHTS series & hailing from the Netherlands is KIM APRIL (vbx) 

Kim April grew up in the Netherlands surrounded by a close family that loved to go to festivals, concerts and listen to music together. As a child she remembers nights at home where she was looking for her favorite music & recognized them by the album covers & always asking here family ‘Can we please play that record again!’ By the age of 20 she found her new home in Spain, Ibiza. Arriving on the island by herself and finding her way around brought her many new friends who shared the same passion for events, nightlife and music. With every year a growing love for electronic music she started to dj and produce her own tracks. Having a piano at home from an early age teaching herself to listen to songs and recreate; to now producing her own sound at the studio in the north of the island as well as home. 

Kim April’s sound is heavily influenced by the Amsterdam minimal house scene & a touch of the London underground. She can be seen on many line ups with artist like tINI, Giammarco Orsini, CAP, Ferro, Dan Andrei, ANOTR, Prunk & many more. She has also been a regular at the PIV showcases in both Amsterdam & Ibiza at the infamous Cova Santa. Next to playing Ibiza & Amsterdam regularly, she can also be seen in clubs around the world like in Milan, London, Marbella, Mykonos, Dubai and more to come.

We asked her a couple questions :)

1. What do you consider a delightful moment on the dance floor?

The moment when my friends and I are dancing in the crowd and a track is played that we love but have never heard live. It’s always the most unexpected and euphoric moment.

       2. What’s the sweetest set you’ve played to date?

I really enjoyed my b2b closing set with TENSEN for the VBX x Sunrise event time at LOFI on the Yellow House stage. At one moment during our set we looked at each other saying “Okay we are not going to stop playing till they really tell us to close it down.”

       3. What’s the oldest memory you have of your first time eating chocolate ?

I used to spend all my pocket money on kinder bueno, slightly embarrassing, cant even call it real chocolate i think now. I would always try to hide it for myself so i wouldn’t eat it all in one day. Hiding something for yourself never works which was a lesson in itself.

For our showcase in the year 2024, we present 3 new-upcoming artists who were previously featured with their triple B2B at our infamous Slovenian night club called Klub K4 with collective Innocent Music with Max Chapman. They did a warm-up set for the crowd and it was a vibe you can't imagine. Now let's introduce our artists;

Marra;
Viktor, also known under his stage name Marra, is a DJ and Producer from Slovenia who already mastered the mixing craft when he turned 16. After his first nights out, the idea of music production started to come to his mind. Music production has been, without a question, what has taken Victor to where he is today. After hours and hours of being locked up in the studio, he managed to create quite a few tracks, whose turning point came in 2021, with a track that managed to stay up in the Hype Picks charts on platforms such as Beatport and was supported by some of the biggest electronic music channels on YouTube. As a DJ and producer, Marra belongs to the young, fresh generation of DJs and Producers in Slovenia. Marra's projects don't just end here but also expand further because of the creation of his own event group, Techno Trance Events back in 2019 which he manages along with two of his childhood friends. Marra is in charge of the Design, while his buddies manage A&R and social network duties. Marra is a safe bet for any record label, festival, or venue that seeks to tear up their dance floors.

Soniks;
Sašo, also known as Soniks is a young and promising DJ/producer from Slovenia. From playing guitar and synthesizer he got into electronic music around 2018 and bought his first DJ controller. A year or two later he began producing his own music when he realized that he wanted to travel the world producing and playing his own tracks and bringing joy to the people with his music. In late 2022, Innocent Music's owner Aney F. decided to give him a chance to prove himself behind the decks. Soniks is a firm believer in succeeding through hard work and unwavering faith and is sure his name will be echoing through the walls of the music world for a long time to come.

Polyy;
Gaber, also known under his DJ/Producer name Poly is a 22-year-old DJ/Producer from Bled, Slovenia. He first started to enjoy electronic music at around age 15, listening to old-school house, techno, tech-house, and minimal. Because listening wasn’t enough, he bought his first DJ controller in 2016. A few years later after gigs in bars, private parties, and rare club appearances here and there, he finally caught his big break, when he won the DJ contest for Castle Festival 2022 and got to perform on the big electronic stage. He then caught the eye of Innocent Music boss Aney F. Who gave him a chance to release his first track.
