Lily: Hi guys, welcome back to the podcast. Today, I sat down with my brother Colby, who is a college student at the Academy of Arts University in San Francisco and works for Apple. Today, I asked him about the company and what it’s like to work for such a well-known tech brand
Colby: How’s it going, my name’s Colby and I am currently a senior at the Academy of Arts University out in San Francisco. I currently work for Apple and I have been there going on 2 years.
Lily: At Apple, Colby works in AppleCare and he currently works online and chats with people to troubleshoot their issues they’re having with their technology. 
Colby: At Apple, I am currently in AppleCare at-home Advisor, which is a new role for me as we transition a lot of our roles from the store into a work-at-home environment, as a lot of our stores have closed down indefinitely, and essentially I’m on the phone talking with customers, troubleshooting what’s going on and getting them directed to set them up for success.
Lily: Working at Apple, Colby has only positive things to say about how they’ve dealt with the pandemic. 
Colby: Uh- Apple’s a great company and they’ve treated us amazingly during this pandemic cause I know there’s a lot of people who’ve lost their jobs and they’ve been financially struggling during this whole entire ordeal. But, I mean, but Apple’s, through the entire company, has been amazing and they’ve treated us very well. And, not one person has been let go as a result of the pandemic!
Lily: His favorite part of working at Apple deals with the people that he has met. 
Colby: My favorite part of working at Apple has to be just the people you meet working in the store and talking with over the phone. And the stocks options don’t hurt either!
Lily: He then told us his least favorite part of working at Apple.
Colby: My least favorite part of working at Apple would definitely be, I would say sometimes when you’re on the phone, you do get customers that are less than knowledgeable about technology so you kind of have to work your way through helping them out. But ultimately, you figure out how to talk to them and help them out with their situation.
Lily: Colby tells us his goal is to work permanently for Apple, hopefully moving up to higher positions in the future.
Colby: My goals within the company right now are to focus on marketing. So, recently, I applied for a career experience within our marketing division at corporate. So, within the next few months, I should be progressing through that, and from there, who knows what’ll happen. Hopefully I get a permanent job within the marketing world at corporate and then from there I can really flourish my career at Apple.
Lily: Next, I asked Colby about his dream position at Apple. 
Colby: My dream position at Apple would be to go into copywriting. So, what copywriting would entail, that would- that would essentially mean I’d be writing marketing materials or internal documentation for corporate. And our retail chain of stores. So, pretty much that could mean I could be writing and proofreading trading materials, or like I could be coming up with slogans, tag lines, for advertising campaigns.
Lily: After, Colby told me his biggest inspiration at Apple.
Colby: Someone in the Apple community I look up to, or inspires me. I would say, to date, I really respect Jonathan Ive, who was a previous industrial designer of Apple, who really changed the way computers should look and pretty much shaped the way our technology look today. And he designed stuff like the iPod, the iPhone, the original Macs, about twenty years ago, the Apple Watch, and the “iPood Nanoo”.
