The Subway Station

An audio teach-in with clips from activists, abolitionists, and more that traces the call to defund the police back to the history of policing, through the tangled web of systemic racism that touches health, housing, and everything in between. By deprioritizing police through the NYC Budget, as a city we assert that we can emerge on the other side, we can collectively imagine and begin to enact a world where police are no longer necessary. Presented by Art Against Displacement, a coalition of artists and arts professionals based in Manhattan's Chinatown and Lower East Side. AAD seeks to amplify the demands of those whose lives and livelihoods are placed at risk by predatory development and resettlement, and to work in solidarity with grassroots organizations toward community-led rezoning.
