Written during the turbulent summer of 2020, 'Have Mercy' is the second single off our upcoming album 'Get Political'. 

From the song's writer, Smash: 

"I wrote 'Have Mercy' after attending a BLM protest for George Floyd during the summer of 2020. This song is specifically about white antipathy, the thinking of many white people that saying 'I don't mind people protesting' is enough. 

If 2020 taught us anything its that saying 'I don't mind' isn't enough, we need to actively support and stand beside all people that are facing discrimination. 'Have Mercy' is the soundtrack of my own personal political reckoning; the realization of past wrongs and grappling with how to be better in the future." 

As with our previous single, all money we receive from sales of 'Have Mercy' will be donated to the ACLU.

HAVE MERCY

"Run" is the highlight track off of The Michael Brothers' upcoming album 'Get Political'. The full album is getting released THIS Friday, April 23rd. 

Written and recorded during the WORST YEAR EVER, "Run" tackles themes close to the hearts of the members of The Michael Brothers. 

Smash and Jam both grew up in the suburbs outside of Toronto. "Run" attempts to distill the insidious and claustrophobic experience of suburban life into the most poppy and upbeat song the bros have ever written. 

"Run" is also a condemnation of the patriarchal philosophies that still run rampant in small towns across the world. With the lyrical content of "Run", the bros hope to give a small glimpse of the truly destructive and devastating nature of these ideas.

As a song about the effects of patriarchy, it would be contradictory for The Michael Brothers - two white males - to profit from it. As such, ALL profits from "Run" will be donated to the Canadian Women's Foundation. Check out their incredible work at www.canadianwomen.org
