For our very first podcast we are pleased to receive Camila Rodhes.

Behind this nickname borrowed from a Lynch movie, is Camille, a DJ and photographer based in Paris.
Very strongly inspired by the film noir and science fiction, Camila Rodhes likes to create evolutive and mystical sets with psychedelic sounds. Her Techno is mental driving, built on a hypnotic groove that blends Techno, Electro and breaks.

For this podcast Camila Rodhes left the Electro on the side to shape a more mental and progressive experience. A technoid land trip, oscillating between textures and bewitching sound landscapes.

Today’s mix is served by Helsinki based MIIA MAGIA. Starting with her pure love for music, collecting records and clubbing lead her to become one of the pioneering female figures in the Finnish club scene. Her musical journey took her through 90’s UK alternative rock and 00’s Nu Disco and House, finally arriving into today’s classic Deep House and Techno.

Living and breathing the Stockholm underground club and rave scene between 2015-2019 refined her skills as a DJ and ignited the start of her own label Motto Sono with Mr. Barth (aka. Cari Lekebusch). Miia best describes her own style of playing as “deep and moody, sharp and groovy”. Her addition to the mix series is a perfect example of this description, however, classy and unique are words we would still add to this. Kickstart your weekend with this strong mix by MIIA MAGIA.

Raeva is a Berlin-based DJ and producer. She started her presence in Moscow, curating DIY festivals and queer techno parties, then broadening her sonic horizons in Yerevan before relocating to Berlin to fulfill her concept of intense techno sound that leans to the leftfield and experimental side. Combining references from the past with the current scene developments she finds her interest in taking supposedly wrong turns in her sets and aims to create a galvanic atmosphere on the dancefloor. She curates the Volchok podcast series, which highlights the diverse musical viewpoints of artists from throughout the world, inspiring her own sound explorations.

This mixtape explores the new grooves within today’s “breaks, bass & bleeps” scene (to borrow the title of a legendary compilation series from the early 90s). The first 45 minutes were recorded live at Virage in Paris, during the @collectifrise slot on Wednesday, 24 July 2024. I added a few tracks I wanted to play but didn’t have time for, then included some dubstep to relax after all the high tempos, and finished with a transition track to bring back the high energy or pivot to techno.
