When most teenagers in the 1990’s were listening to bands like Gun’s & Roses and Metallica, The Mojo Corner boys found their passion lay in the world of the blues. They asked the questions. How does John Lee Hooker get that boogie? Where was Aretha Franklin getting her power and soul from? They dug the dirt, found the diamonds… rough, uncut but full of intensity. The spirit is alive in The Mojo Corner.

Davin Pidolto from the famous Sing Sing Studios in Richmond (Kimbra, John Butler, The Living End, The Black Sorrows) saw The Mojo boys in action at the Rainbow hotel in Fitzroy and was so impressed with their relentless energy he invited them to record at Sing Sing. The result is their most recent CD “Trouble” (2011).

Such is the growing reputation of the new breed of blues musicians who take the bull by the horns. The “The mojo corner” have developed a reputation for hard rocking blues and in their 5 years together they have attracted a loyal and dedicated following.

The ‘steam train’ rhythm section of Mark McLeod and Shaun Hilton along with Johnny Hawken’s strong vocals and driving guitar. Top this with Rory Millar’s biting harmonica licks you have a band that pushes passion and emotion right to the limit. With the electricity of the blues pouring out of them you can’t stop your foot tapping and your heart pumping.
"It's blues like you've always wanted to hear it on a night out. Our own tunes are real life songs. Iit's about what's happening today and is what we feel when we write and play our own stuff,'' the group said.

They have played hundreds of gigs including the Queenscliff Music Festival, Echuca Blues Festival and the Bendigo Blues and Roots Festival, as well as being a regular on the Queenscliff Blues Train. The Mojo Corner have played along side and supported many other prolific blues artsits as Ash Grunwald, Jeff Lang, Geoff Achison, Jeff Martin, Llyod Spiegal and Collard Greens and Gravy just to name a few.

The band has been heavily influence by Muddy Waters, Jimmy Hendrix, Howling Wolf and Stevie Ray Vaughan, The John Mayer Trio, and Eric Clapton. 

This energetic five piece band, pushes passion and emotion right to the limit. By just watching this band you can’t help but become involved. With the electricity of the blues pouring out of them, you can’t help but love with the exciting The Mojo Corner!
