Newcastles "Kings Street" club is always a great time.

Some of my cousins are models, and one of them exclusively dates models, so when we went clubbing I was suddenly in the "hot girl" group. People from all corners of the club were coming over, asking me for advice on how to talk to them... a somewhat unsettling experience.

I came up with the second part of the chorus idea very early.. the body can often kind of get in the way of love in relationships, so I felt that "I'm so sorry, that I've got a body" was kind of fitting. Next came the rest of the chorus.

The beat and the verses took forever... writing, rewriting, scrapping projects and starting over. I'm a man writing about a woman being abused so I wanted to make sure it sounded respectful. Ran my lyrics past some women to get their perspective. I think I struck the right balance, and it's a beautiful track.

Ich finde es ist ein echt gelungenes Projekt. Auf dem ersten Blick denkt man ein happy Song. Hört man genauer hin, merkt man, dass es ein ernstes Thema behandelt. Ich freue mich, ein Teil davon gewesen sein zu dürfen. Zu dem Projekt kam ich durch Goblin, den ich auf einem Song Slam in München kennen gelernt habe. Er hat mich auf Instagram gefragt, ob ich mitmachen möchte bei einem Projekt und ich hab zugestimmt.

So glad I was able to collab with Oogiewoogie. Lots of rap songs talk about wild nighttime escapades, but very few focus on the way you can feel wrecked afterwards. And then maybe you're not able to support the people around you as well as you wish you would.

Mental health is something where I think we've progressed overall as a society. Each generation seems a little more aware and a little smarter at dealing with their problems than the last. I'm so proud of my family... we are sensitive souls.

Fire Sermon was my first time collabbing on a beat or working on anything remotely hip hop... I had a couple of guitar loops in my voice memos earmarked for beats and sent them to Sidney. He was keen to work on one of them so I recorded the guitar parts, bass (actually a nylon-string guitar pitched down), drums and a few piano solo-ey kinda parts. I
remember him saying it was a lot more chill than the other songs on the album but could be cool as the closer... Fast-forward a few weeks and Sidney sends back this track which has been sped up 33% and has this expansive production and has way more energy.

The second verse goes especially hard. It was wild to see the direction it went and in such a short time. I feel it still retains the original recordings' peculiar lamenting but funky vibe... and the lyrics definitely capture that... kinda like groovin through the pain.
