In December 2013 Lettuce was finishing up what was by all accounts there most fruitful and successful year too date.  They were all gathered in their defacto hometown of  Brooklyn for a week long run at Brooklyn Bowl and their last show of the year at the Capitol Theater. 

Never ones to waste a moment, Lettuce took their time together in December in between shows to record two new original tracks, “Don’t Be Afraid To Try”, which features vocalist Alecia Chakour, and “Yakitori”.  “Don’t Be Afraid To Try” is sure to be a Lettuce staple for years to come, seamlessly blending the Lettuce sound with timeless R&B vocals.  Alecia is currently touring with the band and fitting in perfectly.  “Yakitori” is classic hard-tiiing instrumental Lettuce at its best.  This is the sound that fans have come to expect from the band and “Yakitori” shows that the direction of the bands sound is still pushing funk to new heights!

It was a special year for the Lettuce collective in which they played huge dates at Bonnaroo, Summer Camp, the Fillmores in Denver and San Francisco and made it to a ton of cities for the first time, always met by eager fans new and old.  Lettuce Spring tour starts tonight at the Roxy in LA and rolls on through April 6.  The band then will celebrate Jazzfest at their Annual Royal Family Ball before a monster schedule of high profile festival appearances.

An emerging funk duo composed of Rygol and Bobb Tracks, Funkstatik brings the old Motown sound fused with glitchy bass and catchy melodies. Funkstatik's recently launched live set sees the duo trading back and forth on the drums to spice up the tempo and add variance to the flavor and style of the rhythm. This feet stompin, groovin and energetic pair is sure to get your body moving.

Brooklyn, NY -- Lettuce releases the bonus track “Star Children,” previously only available on the rare Japanese version of their 2008 album Rage!. Because of the limited release, “Star Children” has only been heard by the most devoted Lettuce fans. Lettuce's Adam “Shmeeans” Smirnoff had this to say about the release:

“The track was named "Star Children" to pay tribute to some of the great Funkateers like Bernie Worrell, Bootsy Collins, and George Clinton. Neal Evans absolutely crushes the Modular Synthesizer. This is a free track from everyone here at Lettuce, so turn it up Loud, Blast Off, and Enjoy the Ride.”

Lettuce has enjoyed a booming Spring 2013, consisting of main stage plays at Buku, Summer Camp, & Purple Hatter’s Ball Music Festivals, as well as sold-out club plays in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Denver, New York City, and New Orleans (Annual Royal Family Ball). The band will continue to build momentum leading into an electrifying summer, highlighted by their return to the legendary Fuji Rock festival in Japan, as well its primetime slots at Electric Forest, All Good, and the Catskill Chill music festivals.
