Honest, straightforward songwriting ringing off ivory keys & steel strings. The Nautical Theme is a modern-folk duo featuring the ebb and flow of melody and harmony. Based in Dayton, OH, the duo was formed in March of 2017 by Tesia Mallory (vocals, keys) and Matt Shetler (vocals, guitar). Matt and Tesia love to write, record, perform, and make connections with their original music, classified as modern folk, Americana, and indie-pop.

“Do Something”, the fifth studio release from The Nautical Theme, was recorded at Ready Shet Go Studio (Dayton, OH) by Tesia Mallory and Matt Shetler. Mixed and mastered by award winning, Nashville-based producer Ben Reno (Loretta Lynn, Lady A, Breaking Bad, The Voice) at Majestic Ape Studio.

This five song EP leans into the intimate, delicate, and vulnerable side of the music that Mallory and Shetler deliver in their live shows. It showcases the rich and engaging magic that comes from the harmonies of these two vocalists and collaborators. As a companion to “Get Somewhere” (2023), these songs envision a desire to make progress, move forward, and not let the heaviness of the world bring submission and stagnation. Listeners find connection to the feelings of the lyrics and are pushed to make positive change for themselves and the world around them.
