In 2018 I had the pleasure of visiting friends on the Isle of Man. The vacation on this island left a deep impression. I am still fascinated by the atmosphere that is inherent in this island and its natural surroundings. On the island there is a background atmosphere that cannot be put into words and that can be felt all the time, something very unique and rustic, mystical, and definitely Celtic. It penetrates through everything and is everywhere, it shows itself in nature, culture and buildings, the environment, and the weather and light. It's like a little world of its own.

According to legend, the Isle of Man (Isle of Man or Mannin) is protected by the Celtic god Manannan, and in times of danger he puts a wall of fog around the island to hide it from attackers, ships or unwanted visitors. The mist takes the form of a thick gray sheet of gray-violet colors that slowly envelops the land until Manannan is sure to raise his cloak again after the unwanted visitors have gone.

I am still very fascinated by it today, and the very own atmosphere of the island still has a firm grip on me, even if the visit was already 3 years ago. I long to go back there. It's like a Celtic spell, a sorcery or voice in my mind that says like I belong there.

That made me yesterday to take up a spontaneous improvisation. In the end, it is always those sudden and quickly inserted recordings that deliver the most beautiful results because they arise quickly and without thinking and free from constraints and too many thoughts. The field recording with the waves of the sea also comes from me, recorded at the southernmost point of the island, the Calf of Man (Calf Sound or The Sound).

For me, this recording hit the nail on the head, especially with the Celtic-looking synthesizer sound and the reverb effect, together with the sound of the sea, which gives a bit of the feeling of distance and looking into the past, as if through a time window . The full piece takes about 7 minutes, and will be released later.

The Cloaked Island (Manannan's Cloak)

Time for a new remix. My second one for good friend and musician Vladislav Ishkov aka Aura Minimum. This is my fingerprint on the final version of my remix for him. There is a lot of depth inside it and it's a very spacious, meditative track to connect with higher senses and mind. According to Vladislav, it will be released on CD.

Segment V [Beyond The Form Remix] (for Aura Minimum)

I am back with a new track from a forthcoming album, this one is the updated version. It is all about ambient, drone, field recordings and improvised sounds, including some sort of mystical beat that really gives that kind of primeval feeling to it, which i like. The whole thing is heavily inspired from my previous album "Excursions", which the new album will also be based on. Just a few more tracks, and I am done, so you can expect all the deep and epic drones again that are known from this music project.

Wanderer's Path [Interlude]

This version slept on my harddisk for some weeks, and I worked on it a few days ago. Again, with the principles of endless recycling and re-using existing material, this version seems to be quite fresh, but including some familiar sounds at the same time.

The good thing about this series is that with each track, the possibilities and ideas strongly potentiate themselves upwards, since in each new version the merged sound material of different older versions is brought together, which in consequence is again the ground for a new version and the spectrum is enlarged again - that's why there are so many aspects in the Wanderer's Path series. 

From a certain number of tracks, it is simply impossible to exhaust all resources in this diversity. I still have ideas for 10 or 20 further titles, but I'd like to finish the series now and publish it in a big release with several CDs. Therefore, when I make new versions or finish old ones, I try to keep the spirit of the piece in which it was forged, even if one or the other was started long ago. In a way, this also shows how my musical fingerprint has evolved and changed over the years, and which remained the same as my own principles, since the WP has now emerged as my biggest ongoing project since 2012, to illustrate the diversity of the stories and to emphasize aspects. 

Still, I am very excited about the idea of ​​recycling music in nature and of using old vintage equipment and synthesizers with the right spice on the one hand and sampling my own works over and over again because working with samples is one thing very nice thing.

Wanderer's Path [Secret Passage]

.. from a handful of samples extracted from the Wanderer's Path, modified in pitch and tonality, a magic portion of reverb and a smart filter for emphasizing the best frequencies. The soft noise is probably rain, i forgot .. the soft beat structure is from my recently acquired Korg ER-1.

It was surprisingly easy to get this result. A fine line between reflection and letting go, a wonderful meditation, a piece of ambient and new age.
