About:

This album was made by sampling the bottles themselves then arranging them tonally on a midi keyboard to be played. This particular piece was used in a gallery installation call Glass Axiom by Christian Reed using over 300 found antique bottles early in 2013.

This project began when I was a kid. I spent much of my time as a childhood digging in the red and polluted soil of my native Oklahoma. There was a patch of woods a fence-hop and a creek-jump from our house that spread out into eternity in my wonderfully naïve mind. I would bring back treasures hewn from metal, rust, wood, farming, industry and oil-lust. My love and careful study of these precious relics blossomed in ignorance of the history of Oklahoma’s unfortunate relationship with its land.

I remember my older brother’s room in which there would be dusty bottles acting as a terrarium for dead things and dirt. Our living room had huge windows that collected dust from the gravel driveway, which appeared beautifully translucent in morning light.

The initial installation of this project was in the woods that served as my childhood playground. With the help of my brothers I collected and arranged hundreds of bottles in a field days before the land was to be cleared for development. Throughout the middle part of the 20th century, farmers would fill creek beds with waste to prevent erosion on their land. The bottles are the witnesses of these events and are a part of the changing ecosystem. The woods held a mournful, yet peaceful silence broken only by the screech of the red-tailed hawk and the rhythmic clinking of glass as I walked my childhood trails one last time.

This installation in composed of bottles collected in a creek bed in Newberg over the span of a couple weeks. They tell a story unique to their place in the Willamette valley enveloped in the broader history of the symbiotic relationship of humans and the land.

The New Honey Shade caught our attention in 2011 with the mind-changing tape release on Scissor Tail Records "Ozark Dream". Mark has continuously released a solid and reminiscent sound, defined by 8mm film and dust-laced nostalgia on many well-known labels as well as his own Unknown Tone imprint. Mark also runs the Wild Mountain Studios in Osage Hills, Oklahoma.

A series of evolving limited-edition issues are released on both mini CD and C45 cassette and will focus on two artists - limited to 50 copies per release. Each of the formats have hand-crafted packaging, unique, hand-printed covers for the CD and hand-made cassette sleeves for the pro-dubbed tapes [HS44].

The CD-r version is made from sustainable manila covers and features acrylic painted artworks, each one individual and unique, hand-bound gatefold covers, printed track-listing inserts, hand-stamped CDs and packed in glassine, acid-free bags.

REMEMBERING ARCHITECT CALEB JOHN REED (1982-2025)

Wild Mountain Studios would not exist without Caleb and so we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of architect Caleb John Reed (1982–2025), a visionary architect whose contributions enriched Tulsa’s architectural landscape and beyond. Caleb, whose distinguished career included tenures at Arkitektfirma Helen & Hard in Norway, Marmol-Radziner in Los Angeles, and Marlon Blackwell in Fayetteville before his return to Tulsa with his independent architecture practice, FIELDSPACE, and roles with Freese Architecture. He passed away on May 6, 2025, at the age of 42.

Caleb’s work was characterized by a profound commitment to vernacular architecture and a deep love for the Oklahoma landscape, ecology, and history. For the past eight years, he channeled his creativity into designing and building innovative, place-based homes and a Studio on Wild Mountain in Osage County for himself and longtime friends, Mark Kuykendall and Anjelica Lindsey. His projects not only transformed physical spaces but also served as a meaningful bridge connecting personal vision with Tulsa’s cultural heritage.

Caleb was a valued member of the community. His extraordinary talent and passion for architecture leave a legacy that will be felt for generations to come.

Our deepest sympathies go out to his family, friends, and all who had the honor of knowing him. We remain committed to celebrating his visionary contributions to Wild Mountain Studios and will continue to honor his memory in our work.

The Walnut - was created using found wilcox gay recordio gram 7" paper records, magnetic tape & analog synths. All audio includes lost / found home recordings off these fragile and decaying records. The recordings range from personal home recorded messages, to a small girl named "Alice" playing her piano, as well as recording live radio. The recordings were made some time in the late 40's / early 50's by unknown sources. Other instruments heard are Yamaha analog keyboards the SK-30 & CP-35.
