The Black Acre big boss returns with his own distinct hunter/gatherer take on House music. Here he drops two oddball DJ weapons. 'The Trap' is the Full Monty FM Fox crate-haunter featuring fearless soul sample jacking, steam driven percussion and trademarked tangy chords. 'Jackal Youth' on the flip finally outs and assassinates Mr Fox's not so secret alter ego. Breathy baritone vocals samples pin down steam engine churps and schoolyard hand clap percussion. For those who think a Fantastic Mr Fox record is welcome yet an all to rare occurrence will be please to hear he has started work on this debut longplayer!

'First Wilson' is a well swung bit of dub techno that rocks back and forth in a vast open echo chamber and features some crazed machines taking control and whirring manically until the dubby, pendulous garage groove returns once more. 'Second Wilson' is a more flat-footed slow techno jam. The kicks are hard and fast but are softened by blurts of thick synth and various little sound effects and wouldn’t sound out of place on Fachwerk, whilst closing track 'Third Wilson' is another muscular and physical thing with barrelling kick drums, little rays of synth light shooting through and warped and reversed tones cut right through it all to devastating effect. It’s rave and jungle like at the same time as sounding thoroughly contemporary.

Only five releases away from the 100th, Rodriguez Jr. delivers on the 095 with a generous 4-track, digital only edition titled "Muppet Anthem".

The self-titled number makes up the first track on the EP with a pleasant array of upbeat house-party elements and groovy vocals making this piece of work totally dance-floor worthy in the heat of the summer.

Seething down to the second track, "Ocean Drive" takes it down a notch by starting the track with exotic and tropical elements as it progresses into a high peak of faster beats and steady keyboard strikes. Its a number that will leave your feet grounded as your swaying shoulders and bobbing head lead the dance.

"Satellite" comprises the third number an emotional hymn bursting with soulful vocals and periodic tambourine jingles and jangles. Enjoy this eye closer preferably with your head back and arms reaching towards the sky.

Closing out the set is "Palo Alto", a high tempo number with various calculated beats one setting off the next. Crying vocals wrapped in multi-faceted elements will leave even your goosebumps dancing.

The French producer/DJ has a stupendous track record with mobilee and its sister label, Leena. In 2011 he released his very first album titled "Bittersweet" on the mobilee imprint. The summer of 2012 has seen weekly gigs throughout Europes favorite beach bars and waterfront clubs with Rodriguez Jr.

In anticipation of the forthcoming Kenya Special: Selected East African Recordings from the 1970s and '80s compilation, Soundway release a special remix and edit 12" featuring two tracks from the collection and two exclusives. 

The A side kicks off with Batida's remix of a 1977 benga 45 (Ndiri Ndanogio Niwe) from the Mbiri Young Stars.  Fast 120bpm plus 4/4 rhythms with liquid guitars and machine-gun drumming are married with kuduro drum programming. Second up and surging with sub bass, British production duo The Busy Twist inject The Kalambya Boys' Kivelenge (also from 1977) with a slice of London club culture. Many late 70s Kenyan benga 45s were cut loud and heavy with often ludicrous amounts of low end squeezed onto sides that technically shouldn’t have exceeded three-and-a-half mins but frequently topped five. Perfect fodder for remixes these cuts were way ahead of their time production-wise and sound even more amazing considering the limited equipment Kenyan engineers had at their disposal in the late '70s.

On the flip Sofrito's Frankie Francis subtly tweaks a sublime Nairobi Matata Jazz track from the mid '70s: focusing on the wobbly guitar lines and letting the blaring horns speak for themselves. Consisting of both Kenyan and Congolese musicians Nairobi Matata Jazz were a perfect example of how rumba from Congo (which consumed East Africa in the 1970s) was blended with rat-a-tat-tat benga style Kenyan drum patterns and Swahili language vocals. These same rhythms are in full effect on the last track by the Gatanga Boys Band, edited and chopped up by Hide and Smile (Frankie Francis and Miles Cleret) - super fast instrumental benga guitar and drum interplay, heavy on the cymbals and dynamite on the floor.

Delsin is proud to announce that we are working with Will & Ink, a new label and production duo of the same name. Well, they aren’t really new, because individually Will & Ink are Dutchmen with many musical projects to their names. 

This new project, however, is something different. When Will & Ink got together for the first time they had a gut feeling that they could add something new to the techno world. This is why their raw and pounding sound is brought to life through custom-built hardware, which you can see in action during their unique live sets. 

Now those first tracks get an official release in the form of this three track Fermat EP. The opening track, First Fermat is a well swung, cantering techno groove with swinging hi hats and the sandiest of hits peeling off the top. The percussion and metallic rattles sound like nothing else and all in all it’s one of the most infectious warehouse styled tracks you are likely to hear. 

Second Fermat recalls the releases of Fachwerk and is built on the same bubbly, grip-y drums and clattering rhythm sections, but this time a dark, filtered vocal lurks in the middle to add an element of intensity and paranoia amongst the spangled synths.

Finally, Third Fermat is a little more stripped back. The textures are still sandy and rough edged, the beats still seem to lean into a stiff wind but here the hook is a frazzled, blistered little synth which tears up the middle of the track, hypnotising as it goes. This EP marks quite the debut for a pair that has many more special techno treats up their sleeves for the coming months, both in the studio and live arena.
