Journey Far Beyond Yourself

The earliest forms of music were composed using found percussion; sticks, logs, rocks and animal bones. They were also made using the voice, with language being theorised to have started as rhythmic communication, the first rule of music being rhythm. Every sound in my pieces are made using field recordings, the synth-like sounds are made using vocals looped and sometimes stacked into chords. All the percussion is made from rocks and sticks with the kick drum being a log hit into the ground. This is all done with minimal additional processing, using EQ’s, filters, reverb and delay to enhance frequencies naturally occurring within the sample. 
Recontextualising the earliest forms of instruments and music into contemporary dance music, these pieces delve into our relationship with frequencies, nature and technology, the latter being a founding idea of techno, a technological utopia. Meditative, swirling, repetitive patterns induce a hypnotic trance like state, similar to those found among world religions.
