Wandering around airports and train stations, Francesco has collected ideas that can fit on a buggy laptop and portable, not-really-fancy, machines.

The first release of Escape Artist’s new imprint is a various artists affair brought together by the power of friendship. After years of being sent amazing music by new and old friends from near and afar, the time has come to share this joy with the rest of the world. As a label, we will seek to shine a light on psychedelic music of all designs and the first release will focus on the dance variety. It is the label’s hope that the love and friendship that brought this project together will shine through in the music. 

Grim Beazley’s ‘Acid Leaf’ evokes a memory of crowded peak time floors. The song’s gentle introduction gives way to powerful 303/909 interplay and leaves us yearning to go back to that place.

Dystopian lucid dreaming… Is this reality? Is this a nightmare? Are we sharing the same dream or are we all part of yours? 

We have no answers. But we do have the perfect soundtrack as Curses’ label Ombra International continue to join the most powerful dots around the world. Somewhere between dark disco and post-punk, it’s the label’s first vinyl release in some time with three debuts and two highlights from the recent Ombra International 17 ‘Destiny’ V/A EP. All things connected, all things unclassifiable, sitting somewhere between Italo, indie, acid house, electro, synthwave and beyond. 

Turkish dynamo Günce Acı takes the lead as she continues to accelerate into the scene with dominance. Her Ombra debut ‘Another Round’ pushes us head first into an acid primordial soup; Trippy, relentless and full of surprises, it’s another sure-fire sign of her exciting rise. 

Elsewhere long-time supporters and good friends of the label Juan MacLean and Hardway Bros also both make their label debuts. The former lays down the deep pulsating sensation ‘Monika’, a sojourn that stretches out over almost 10 minutes of heady, hypnotic bliss. Meanwhile the latter sends us love from his HQ outer space with the industrial strength euphoria bulldozer ‘Early Nineties’. Ploughman beats and cathedral keys, this washes away the bitter aftertaste of lockdown with unfiltered, uncut feels. 

And if that’s not quite enough worldly Ombra substance to fuel your dystopian dreams, then look no further as previous digital-only tracks Skelesys – ‘The Scorpio Sting’ and Jorkes and NIKKNAME – ‘Citizen’ are both revisited on this pivotal release for the label. Snippets invited Ksky, Komartsov and Ellipse, who are already known for the label listeners. New friends from Belgrade - Cosmic G and Laars with a collaboration novella «Trancia», Maksim Polivanov from Motorama under the moniker Neporyadok and his «Jewel Box» and one of the most productive musicians in St. Petersburg — Rambal Cochet, also known as Volta Cab. FINA Records co-owner — Corbi, interesting duo who released their first vinyl on Gated Recordings this year — not even noticed, and the last but not the least is superb selector from Kazan, Tatarstan — Enfant.

Terra Magica Records, a micro-label from Munich, starts with its first release in Sept./Oct. with a 4 tracker 12".

Masterminds Mirko Hecktor & Tom Sprenger present Social Rub with two tracks of Hektisch Sprengen DJ`s on side A. The tracks are called Social Rub and Dancing Dust. Both tracks are full of great diversity and different electronic genres inspired by African Roots Music, Japanese Rituals Sounds and TR-808 Grooves.

On the flip side internationally reknown DJ Normal 4 (Warning, Aiwo rec.) will deliver a remix treatment for ‘Dancing Dust’ called Normal 4`s Liquid Lifespender MixX.

Fully tooled for club use, the remix navigates through early UK-Rave, hypnotic Trance with an electric sitar anthem lead and Breakbeats while keeping up the Ethno touch. There will be another remix on the
B side by DJ Chrysalis (PP, Head Rush ENT.) from Down Under
of `Social Rub‘ called PDQ Remix which is nestled between dreamy and acid influences.

Focused on the pursuit of an idealized world full of consumption and entertainment. But something broke. A bestial attack on Ukrainian civilians took place next to us. We realized then that not everything we know is given to us forever. Therefore, with modest means, we want to make a contribution to help the victims of war, who are mainly women and children.

We have decided to invite artists whom we value for their artistic work to participate in the compilation. The total income from sales will be donated to Polska Akcja Humanitarna (PAH).

The second of a triplet on Fine Grains for the Surrey-based producer, Herman. Four ruminating low-end constructions with the heads down crew always in mind. With clubs starting to re-open, the ‘Narcissus EP’ lands at the perfect moment. ‘Sol’ takes on a heady mix of tribal drums, haunting distorted vocal snippets and teasing breakbeats. And this is the essence of the ‘Narcissus EP’, as we go further down the rabbit hole into Herman’s world of deep myoclonus percussion.

Herman’s tale is furthered with remixes by two exciting emergent production talents - Holloway from the UK and Zohar in the Netherlands. The emphasis remains on drums, slipping into some classic d’n’b flavour with Holloway and a powerful modern breakbeat re-shake from Zohar (her first ever remix). ‘Narcissus’ is a call to arms for a return to those dark and sweaty nights we once shared with strangers on dance floors and dingy basements across the globe. Let’s get back to it.
