These Minnesota Blues is a concept album about moving to the big city, tackling nostalgia, failing relationships, and being unable to let the past go, while ending with the 2020 George Floyd protests, the media's twisting narrative, and the chaotic behavior of the city's law enforcement. The record's dense sound and production mixes blues rock with hip-hop, progressively adding more electronic heaviness as the album moves forward, with the artists Aesop Rock, Atmosphere and Kanye West being huge inspirations for the sound.
