Out of Fashion Boys Compilation Vol.2: Punch Drunk

Punch Drunk refers to the dizziness when fighters get rocked, pretty much resembles to the numbness after five six Vodka shots. We borrowed this concept to name our compilation, hoping it delivers the same experience aurally and emotionally even without Vodka. So that you may keep your feet on the ground when the real punch comes. As Buddhism says, "All sufferings are caused by omissions.” All those omissions (joys and sorrows to put it simple) are punches to our life, where all our false satisfaction and desperation are punch drunk. Wish we can stay sober, or just straight out get a "punch drunk".

Punch Drunk指的是在格斗比赛或现实中被重拳击中产生的眩晕感，就像是一口干掉一杯伏特加后对整个世界都失去了知觉。我们借用这个概念来命名这张合辑，是希望让每个人即使不喝伏特加，也能够在听感和情绪上体会punch drunk。等到哪一天真的迎来一记“punch”时，希望你能站稳。就像佛教所讲的有漏皆苦, 所有的“漏”（简单理解为过喜或悲的情绪）都是一记punch，我们对生活的所有虚假的满足与绝望也是punch drunk，希望我们能保持清醒，否则就干脆享受punch drunk吧。

Luxixi is active in both Beijing and international music scene. As a founder of Out of Fashion Boys, she has brought outstanding musicians and artists to China. Such as, Sinjin Hawke, Zora Jones, Murlo, ZUTZUT, Mina, Air Max 97, Imaabs, King Doudou, Ase Manual etc. In early 2019, after having gigs at Batica and Cakeshop, she got praise from DJs and producers around the world. Her DJ set is unlimited, you can find more possibilities in it. As a producer, she has Collaborated with Babel Records, DCYY’s COVID-19 collaboration, HongKong/Paris based label Fufu Records.

Born in the US, Avernian grew up in a household that was a melting pot of cultures. With his mother being German and his step-dad being Peruvian, he was exposed to many different kinds of music from a young age. Cumbia, Afro-Peruvian and even Guaracha were constants in his life.

Fast forwarding to his late teens, Avernian moved to Germany to study and get in touch with his German heritage. By doing this, he discovered his love for electronic music and delved into producing. Over the years, he found that the UK sound resonated with him in ways that reminded him of his childhood and so he decided to move to the UK and immerse himself.

Avernian’s music pays homage to all of these influences that have played a part in his journey. Elements from these influences can be heard clearly in his output. A sound that cannot be pigeon holed or defined by a singular genre.

Now living in Manchester, he runs his own label and party series by the name of Lurch, regularly inviting down friends and artists he feels a personal connection with in their music.
On this debut album, Avernian wanted to showcase every different influence in his music; from Cumbia, Dancehall, UK Funky, Techno, UK Techno, Shaabi.

It’s an accumulation of 2 years work also features samples from family recordings & videos to show the connection between Avernian’s music and childhood.
