Ears Wide Open is my call for you to come wander open-heartedly into the endless realm of beats and melodies I dig, mostly – but not limited to – electronic, No boundaries or preconceptions, just all that music I wanted to share with the world, but I didn’t have the chance yet.

I grew up listening to the radio or better said, the radio grew me musically, infected me with a visceral need to select the music I loved and tape it on cassettes. Later on, I started to buy vinyl and play them to the people at parties. Ears Wide Open triggers a new dimension of what DJing means for me. Tune in and enjoy!

With over a decade of experience as a DJ behind him the versatile Momo Trosman continues his upward trajectory in recent years. On a personal level the Argentinian never tires of developing his distinct sound, consistently honing his craft and pushing his record bag to new boundaries, shying away from following trends but instead amalgamating a blend of genres, manoeuvring between innovative shades of UK and US 
House, Electro and Techno, utilisting strains of Breakbeat and Minimal, and extends this further in to ambient when taking his dance floor on a journey.

 This raw talent for storytelling has seen Trosman take his comprehensive sound on a global scale, frequently touring Europe year on year, and several US tours under his belt already. The Buenos Aires native is most famously known for his co-creation of the record label and party starting outfit Melcure, a dynamic and cohesive project which brings together Cure Music and Melisma with close friends and affiliates Dani Casarano, Felipe Valenzuela, and many more. 

The connection between this thriving artist and electronic music runs
deeply, with the roots at the heartbeat of his passion transcending from a vast background in music including Rock, Pop, Dub and Jazz music, among other genres. 
A series of vibes he is extremely fond of to this day, implementing them into his diverse sound of modern times as a DJ. The ever evolving story of Momo and the trust he receives worldwide is a testament to his undying passion and organic ability as an artist, and long may that continue as he sets his grips firmly on a bright few years ahead, including his latest project Replica alongside the legendary Franco Cinelli.

The fifteenth mix in the series comes in via the form of a live recording from the legend that is, Lee Renacre aka 100Hz.

Originally formed of three members and now ran by Lee, 100Hz is a prolific electronic recording artist who’s been producing the funkier side of house and techno since 1989. Known for his sultry, stripped down grooves paired with sinister vocals and odd beat patterns, he has carved a truly unique style of electronic music blurring the lines between house, techno and jazz. An iconic track, 'Whisper' is however anything but sinister - full of hope, the track meanders through introspective thoughts on love and positivity. 

Early releases on Optimism as well as his own Format label laid the foundations for a back catalogue of highly sought after records including EPs on Oblong and Pacific in the mid 90s right up to the current day with releases on the minimal labels, Amphia and Curtea Veche. 

100Hz was recognised by Mixmag in 1997 as one of the pioneering UK producers of the time, helping to create a new genre of dance music. His sound pioneered the slightly obscure UK Tech House sound of the 90s which has come into serious demand in recent years. 100Hz's sound is simply integral in the sound of UK underground dance music. 

The live mix was recorded recently in his South London studio.

Co-founder of French trio 192gmbh, Reusbi is an equal part driving force and musical influence that takes his cues from all corners of the sonic sphere. Possessing a penchant for the lush as much as the noisy, his tastes are impossibly hard to pin down, but this is the beauty in his style. With curve balls waiting at every turn, there is really no guessing which direction is next on the agenda, but having the skills to take you there is an entirely different proposition. This is something that Reusbi and his two cohorts have in spades. Word is also getting out, as, like our party at Hoppetosse a few weeks back many more are clamouring for a slice of what he has in his record bag.

Being able to mix the smooth with the wonky is a skill that few can harness as deftly as Reusbi can. His selections are well hidden, his vibe eclectic but not for the sake of being so, and his transitions are smooth like butter. As well as nu school gems the Frenchman is also not afraid to offer a timely reminder of cross over nuggets such as Claude Von Stroke’s eerily satisfying “Who’s Afraid Of Detroit”. After all, Djing is all about context and his tracks segue so well together partly down to the fine curation of his music. This is an ethos that shines out of his mix for our InSession series that will draw fans and future fans back to this mix again and again.
