Episode 21

Happy New year!! I know last year was a bit slow for us, but we want to start this year off right. This is our very first video podcast! You will be able to listen in as you did before, however, if you wish to have a visual you will not be able to watch as well. For our first video guest, we saw it fitting to bring back our first ever guests @gardensandseeds to give you all an update on how things have been going with them and the progression they and the brand have made! This called for celebration so we decided to toast a few times on this one. Things get a little loose in the end but it all makes for great conversation.

Episode 22 feat: Gardens and Seeds

Greetings everyone! We are back with our 2nd episode of 2022, Episode 23! This time we are back in our own "home studios" to record both a Youtube version and our usual audio version. We just quickly caught up to some personal activities that we have been a part of, went over the upcoming Super Bowl, and our respective team followings. We also touched base on something that we have been thinking about lately. It's about how we handle our privacy. To be more specific, how we as a society have been handling their medical issues, mental health, or just social media privacy. We are trying a new way of recording our podcast since we are now incorporating a video format. Episode 23

We are back for Episode 24. We quickly recorded this before David and I left for Chicago. I wanted to upload this before I left, but with all the preparation we had to do, it got lost in my task list. It's been a minute since Episode 24, we touched base on a few personal happenings, like having a catalytic converter stolen in the middle of the night and our thoughts on the Will Smith slap incident at the Oscars. We branch off into how we deal with our own thoughts and mental health. David also asks a pretty controversial question towards the end of the podcast.

The Open Perspective Podcast. Where we want to hear you from an open perspective or will attempt to open your perspective on things. This is the introduction to the who we are and why this podcast was created.

Introduction

Welcome to our first official episode. Our special guests are Gardens and Seeds. They can be found on instagram at @gardensandseeds. We go over how the brand started, how traveling is good for the soul, plus some of the things we've encountered growing up that shaped us into the people we are now. Episode One has been broken up into two episodes.

Episode 2 - Part 1

We are back with Part 2 of Episode 2. We bring back Justin (@justoner) and finish off our conversation from Part 1. We dive deeper into Justin's thoughts about branding and even reveals the new brand that he is currently working on. We always talk about speaking it into existence, this episode is a good example of that.

On this episode we take a dive into a few different topics with David’s cousin, caveman. David wanted an opportunity to thank his cousin for all that he’s done for him and for introducing him to one of his greatest passions. We really wanted to open things up to more conversation and sharing each others perspective on the different topics.

We decided that we wanted to go back to having just us on the podcast. We want to thank everyone who has given us feedback and advice to help make this podcast better. This week's episode we go back to our roots and just have a simple conversation. I (John) have been extremely busy lately trying to juggle everything I got going on while David gets through a "rough" week. Episode 4

Being that John and I are looking to share our interests and open our eyes to different things, we decided to have Elias Tebache (IG: @socalarchitecture) on for this episode.  Elias is a real estate agent based in Southern California. Elias is someone who is very into architecture and design. We wanted to get into his head a bit to grab some knowledge and get his opinion on a few things.  This one is very casual conversation but for those who are just beginning to learn about their journey to find a home, there are some gems to get you started. For those who share the same love, you will probably agree on some of the topics discussed and have some things you would like to share. Thank you for listening!

Episode 5

Can't believe we are just days away from November. I (John) can't imagine where the year went, we are pretty much knocking on SEMA's door. I was supposed to drop this podcast a few days ago but I just haven't had a moment to truly sit down and upload it. David and I haven't had the opportunity to talk as much over the past few weeks as well. I've been busy with personal and SF Auto Show stuff while David is also traveling for personal reasons. What's good to see is that we are able to always pick up where we left off whenever our conversations start. This episode once again is just David and I discussing some thoughts on the upcoming SEMA trip, movies, and other things. As always, we like to keep our episodes between us two strictly conversational and hopefully strike up more conversations with our listeners in the future.

Episode 6

After a loooong hiatus we are back to kick off the new year. It’s just the two of us again on this one as we needed to catch up with one another after the holidays. We’re going to try to schedule our guests out for the year so this doesn’t happen again. So for this episode just hear what’s going on in our lives, talks about recent movies that have been out and our opinions about certain current events in the world.

Frankie Trutanic is one of those guys that can easily hold a conversation. He’s also someone who has been through some things and seen some things.  To top it off he knows how to build some crazy cars. We wanted to get him on the podcast to chop it up and just see where the conversation can go. As usual we talk about all sorts of things to keep the usual flow here at the open perspective. Take a listen and tell us what you think.

Episode 8

Here on the open perspective we really like to talk about the things that most people have trouble expressing. We like to talk about emotion, feelings, thoughts, mindset, drive. With the tragic and sudden death of Kobe Bryant his daughter and their friends, it brought a lot of emotion. Devastation has come over many of us here in California and this who were great fans of Kobe. It was almost a bit of a shock as to how deeply it impacted us. So much that I felt a full on conversation to express our feelings was called for. For those of you who felt the same pain over the loss of a legendary hero, you may relate to our conversation. Much love goes out to the family’s that were all affected by this tragic occurrence.

Episode 9 - Kobe Bryant

For us, Episode 10 is a pretty significant milestone. We are pretty excited to hit the double digit mark for our episodes. In all honesty, we should have more episodes but lately we haven't been able to sync up our schedules to record again since we recorded the episode about Kobe Bryant's passing. For Episode 10, David and I wanted to catch up on a few current events, especially with what's going with the Coronavirus. Our own thoughts on how everyone is acting concerning the virus on some epic doomsday prepping type vibe. We also just catch up on what's going on in our own personal lives and our thoughts. Honestly, it feels great to be back behind the mic again. Thank you to all of our listeners and supporters! We truly appreciate you and the time you take to listen to our podcast.

To follow up on our previous episode we get more in depth into how things are changing now that the US has started to lock down due to the Covid-19 virus. How it has personally affected our lives and those around us.

On episode 12 David got his covid test results back and we talk about how life has changed and kinda get some thoughts out about how the day to day is and how the world is handling things. If you enjoyed episode 11 you’ll like the feel of this one.

Episode 12

We are back for Episode 13! We hope everyone is staying safe and healthy out there! I (John) got with David to sort of continue the conversation of how people "put it out there" in regards to putting themselves on some sort of streaming service or YouTube. We all have seen the phenomenon in some sort of way whether its your kids or even friends and family who either watch a lot of this or even partake in it. It kind of felt a bit more personal for me because this is a side of me that I kind dabble in with e-sports, gaming, streaming, and all of that stuff. Plus it goes into my love / hate with Social Media and everything around content creation. We of course will jump off course a few times but even those conversations had some gems in it. Thank you to everyone who's supported us over 13 episodes of The Open Perspective.

We sat down for some good conversation with our buddy Barry, he is responsible for a great annual toy drive, a hip hop head, shoe head as well as a partner in a shoe shop, and most recent a podcaster as well. As you can guess we had a lot to chop it up about. Our first guest since the pandemic lock down, and we hope you enjoy it!

We sat down after some time to articulate some thoughts out of our heads. With so much going on in the world right now, it’s been extremely tough to keep a clear mind. We shared a lot of our feelings that will ultimately open up the door for some more growth within us.

He tells us his story with how he found himself in the position to open up his coffee shop and what it took to get to this point in his life. Plus how it’s been managing his business through the pandemic.

Episode 17 with Special Guest: DJ Icy Ice

It has been some time since David and I recorded a podcast of just us two. We have recorded a very special episode just before this one that we can't wait to share with everyone. We are awaiting a few things that need to be ok'd before we release that one. For the time being, we decided to record an episode to just tackle some current events. The Lakers just won the NBA Championship in the bubble while the country prepares for the upcoming 2020 Election. It's going to provide some interesting conversations in the future, that is for sure.

Episode 18

It’s always interesting to hear the steps people took to get to where they are today. For most people, just figuring out where they want to be is the hardest part. Hearing about different ways that others have found their place has proven to be helpful. Here at the Open Perspective, we have brought you the stories of humble beginnings from some great people. We know you will enjoy the journey of our next guest. Damien Scott is passionate about family, music, automotive, and storytelling, like us, made for some great conversation that we think you will relate to. There are some gems in this episode that you will appreciate.

David and I got to catch up before Thanksgiving break and we wanted to catch up on a few things. This episode we started our conversation on the topic on some of the music we are listening to and how a recent song had us thinking about the artist's thoughts about growing up in the spotlight. Not only because of traditional media, but now how Social Media has changed this “access” to our favorite and not so favorite artists. Then we go off and talk about how this “access” changes our lives as well regardless of social status.
