High atop the mountain prison of Mt. Woe, our heroes find a person trapped in ice. However, before they can inspect further, they're attacked by the warden! 

Defeating this giga titan breaks the seal on the prison and the person trapped in ice is freed, the Guru of Life! He tells the party that the Queen of Zeal intends to use the life-draining machine, the Mammon Machine, on Lavos to drain his magic. However, instead of using it high atop the Earth in the floating kingdom of Zeal, the Mammon Machine will directly interact with Lavos (sleeping in the center of the Earth) by creating an Ocean Palace and moving the machine deep under the ocean. BUT! Draining that much energy would cause Lavos to awaken early and destroy the work in a fit of rage so it's up to the heroes to stop Queen Zeal and destroy the Mammon Machine.

Resolved to defeat the Queen and prevent Lavos from waking early to destroy the world, the party once again enters the magical kingdom to confront the Queen, but this time, journeys to the Ocean Palace.

But it's too late! Lavos has awoken due to the Mammon Machine and the party is forced to attack. However, Lavos is too much for the team...and after one final attempt, Crono is completely obliterated by the power of Lavos. The party barely makes it out thanks to the magic of Schala.

Lavos isn't done yet! As retribution for being awoken, Lavos destroys Zeal! It comes crashing down to the Earth. Those who survived create a small little encampment to regroup. 

Meanwhile, the party refuses to believe that Crono is actually dead and that there must be some way to bring him back. They travel to the End of Time to look for clues...

Sounds of Chrono Trigger -- 009

Captured! After attempting to learn more information about Crono's death, the party is captured by what remains of Zeal's aristocracy.

Taken aboard an airplane, named the Blackbird, the heroes attempt an escape only to find that their time machine, the Epoch, has been outfitted with lasers and wings! 

The party takes back the Epoch, destroying the Blackbird in the process, and is finally free to travel to the End of Time. However, en route they stop at the cape because they hear that Magus has been spotted in that area!

Frog confronts Magus one last time! It is then reveled that Magus is the brother of Princess Schala of Zeal and has been trying to secretly destroy Lavos in order to find what happened to his sister after being devoured by Lavos in a previous timeline. 

Reluctantly, Frog agrees that Magus should join in their quest to destroy Lavos and the party, Magus as well, heads to the End of Time.

At the End of Time, the old man there tells the party of the "Chrono Trigger", an egg full of pure potential. It is the only thing that could possibly bring Crono back to life; all they need to do is pray hard enough and present the egg at the top of Death Peak. If successful, the egg will hatch and Crono will be restored.

However, to climb Death Peak, the party needs the help of the Guru of Reason. The party heads to the future but finds out that to climb Death Peak, they need a clone of Crono! 

Off to the Millennium Fair to win a clone!
