There's so much more to be done on this one, but I just wanna put the idea out there and forget about it. Wake up tomorrow and focus on what comes next. I feel like 10 to 20 hours on a track is good enough for now as I find the sounds I like and refine my work flow moving forward. Uhhhhhmmmmm, I started this track like last weekend after watching @musicbybrooks 1hr challenge. I get inspired after watching professionals work. It helps me get ideas out and reminds me about structure. I did get kind of lost along the way here though. Like last time, I just kept adding things as I went with no real plan and I think I got carried away lol? Meh. I'm gonna focus on keeping it simple next time.... I added some last minute vocals. That was fun. I think it gave it a bit more life.

Sooooo this song happened beacuse I watched some @deadmau5 making of / tutorial videos last week. What I love about his style are the long builds and interesting chord progressions. They are very melodic and delibrate and slow moving. It feels good getting lost in them, and then that beautiful bouncing tick clap to bring it all together. #STROBE #SOMECHORDS and #ALLIHAVE are three deadmau5 tracks that are great examples of what I love about his music. I tried to bring in their vibe here with the build and the chord progression. Melodically, I was kind of influenced by #WITHYOUFRIENDSLONGDRIVE by @skrillex - just in the way that the melodies during the breaks (and the one at the end) have a freestyled kind of feel to them. Still needs a lot of work of course, especially the drop, but we're just gonna mosey on along to the next one for now.

I started this one a few days ago. I had the melody idea for the drop vocally recorded in my phone, so there's that. I wanted the breaks and builds to be different from the drop, so I came up with the main chord progression. The song really started to take life when I ran the chords through this Kontact preset that makes them have a music box / wind up toy effect. I fell love with the sound and this visual of a bunch of old forgotten toys coming to life at night and leaving their toybox to party came to me. Like, fuck you human. You think you're so cool and mature now? You can't chill with us anymore? Well, we don't need you to have a good time, alright?! (lol) Creating the rest was easy from there because it was all based around this theme. Ummmmm, still learning how to balance the sounds properly but this one was def fun to make.

I had expressed in my Instagram stories about a weeek ago that I wanted to make a song like This Is What It Feels Like by @arminvanbuuren. Before I got to start it, I had worked on another bts song that had a 3/4 time signature. This is interesting. Just wait for it... So I get to start this track here, I get a couple of hours into it and I'm like "Wow this is super off." The grooves just didn't match. So I come to find out that TIWIFL has a 14/4 time signature. It's been the week of weird time sigs! Anyway, I gave it a shot. About half way through, I got advice from producers to work on my mixing and mastering. I really want to start doing that, and making this song was distracting me so I rushed it out. Its very trash lol but at least the idea is out there and it was fun while it lasted. I just can't concentrate on too many things at once or quality/productivity will suffer in all areas. I even threw some horrid sounding vocals on it.... just some thoughts about moving back to the solitude of scarborough and diving deep.
