Pretty Words was written to express the sharp contrast between your own centred view of your own life and struggles against how alien that concept is to something as huge as an ocean. The feeling that you're being attacked by an ocean whilst you're at sea when the reality is that even if the ocean was sentient, you are so small that you wouldn't be a factor in its decision making. This is drawn into parallel with the times that how you feel has no affect on a situation, how unrequited love wont make someone love you; but that doesn't mean you can switch it off.

"You'd have thought you'd find just a little bit of love by now". Little bit of love is a song about the terror of being queer in your late 20s. We're particularly fond of the weird baroque dance drop starting from around 2:00.

Squares is about sending your last message, your final words to someone you love, specifically in this digital age - the last communication you have with someone might be via text , not voice - and if the world is unplugged all of a sudden, the ghosts of these messages in the ether.
