Peyton “King P” Charles is a new and upcoming hip-hop artist based out of Memphis, TN. Primarily known for her fashion modeling work, Peyton began her musical career 5 years ago while in college, producing beats for local artists, and then training under a local well-known DJ to learn the art of disc-jockeying. Finding solace in the studio and realizing she had a story to tell, Peyton put pen to pad and wrote her first song, “I Tried”, the lead single off of her highly-anticipated mixtape “Red Lips Cold Hearts”, dropping June 3, 2012. “I Tried” has received airplay on Shade 45, qued by the infamous DJ Bay of Memphis, TN, and has been gaining recognition around the country at a steady speed. Powerfully direct lyrics, it tells the story of a woman dealing with the callous reality of love from two different perspectives. A universally relatable topic, “I Tried” was the perfect first single to introduce Peyton as an artist and storyteller.

Citing Kanye West’s “808s & Heartbreak” and Drake’s “Take Care” albums as two of her biggest influences in her music and writing, Peyton delivers an emotional, at times gritty exploration of the many facets of life & love with “Red Lips Cold Hearts”. While her music isn’t overtly vulgar and sexual, Peyton’s style is in no way timid or meek. Strong-willed, honest, and at times cutthroat, “Red Lips Cold Hearts” is only scratching the surface of who Peyton Charles is.

In addition to promoting the mixtape and booking shows (she most recently opened for Ca$h Out at Level II Night Club), Peyton is in the studio working on her sophomore mixtape “Reversed Roles”, slated to be released Winter 2012.
