Pop Up!’s debut on Montaime is a return to roots for Brazil’s future funk favorite, whose previous French House alias was inspired by Crydamoure’s discography. It’s easy to fall in love with French House’s production shimmer, albeit molded by limitations: 12-bit samplers with strict storage limits, basic sequencing, rack mounted gear, and instruments processed beyond recognition. 

“The Lost Waves Mix” is Pop Up!’s way of giving fans a hour-long deep dive into House’s golden age, with sweet '00s goodness curated to sound like what could've been Crydamoure's Waves III. Pop Up!’s success shows no bounds, having released on veteran internet label Business Casual & amassing 3+ million plays on “Paradise City” cross-platform. A selection of essential "AOR" and some fusion, funk and smooth jazz numbers from Japan.I bring you my ultimate tribute to a period in my Japanese musical heritage.There was a weird period between 70s and 80s where Japan was pushing the envelope in contemporary jazz called "AOR". They were influenced by American bands like Airplay, Bobby Caldwell and Steely Dan. I can't pretend to have been huge AOR fans at the time, but have grown to love it now, with help from some friends.Using their records and cds, i tried give you our take on 70-80s AOR. It should be a real delight to your ears.I hope you to play more of it in the future. you can call this the director's cut, 12 hours of music, about 17 mixtapes cut into pieces to save the best parts, from the first mixtape i've ever done I Can't Stop Bullets, 15 days after getting ableton in 2008 to The End of The World aka Judgement Day (everything after that, starting from the Ninjas Shark mixtape to Mostly Sandwiches last year is considered god tier, by me)

i made this long edit for my car, added a few things here and there easter egg type stuff, it took me years to find what i really liked so there are some stuff i didn't like to listen to anymore (including lot of my own stuff and also a bunch of cringe worthy transitions like that delay fx i would abuse, somebody should have stopped me) so i just went at it and sorry if i used your track and it disappeared in the process, we collectively made a lot of stuff around that time that just sound like crap now

the main thing about those mixtapes is sometimes i'd just play a song for like 20 seconds but it doesn't mean i liked it less, sometimes you don't want to buy the whole thing you just want to taste it (M. Scott)
