Happy Piano Day!

88th day of the year again today, same as the number of the keys on a piano, and the pandemic is still a reality! Piano Day was invented to let likeminded people, piano lovers, piano players, tuners, builders, movers and of course, listeners, communicate with each other. But more importantly, to spread a message of hope and a proof that we can still celebrate life, and escape whenever we want into the safe universe of music.

“Celestial” is my contribution for this year’s piano celebration! Being filmed on “Spring Equinox”, the first day of astronomical spring (aka the moment the Sun crosses the celestial equator), in a one-shot camera circular movement, reminiscent of a planet’s orbit…Do you think we are important? Do you think covid19 is worth the hype? Let’s take a step back and realize the impact that planetary movements have to human-scale reality. Just the right tilt, in the right time, and we have this orchard of blooming beauty.

Celestial (Piano Day 2021)

This piece was part of the Додому Project on bandcamp in support of the Ukraine war victims. 
I'm not a big fan of the "single" thing, I'm more of an "album" kind of musician but I thought that it could be also available on streaming. 
On ‘Ego Dissolution’ the piano naturally holds center stage. I managed to maintain a wistful soft-focus consistency whilst delivering a luminous and hopeful message towards the end.

It was recorded as a one-take improvisation on his friend John Hayes’ piano (who is also on the compilation) - a glimpse of peace and calm in our world’s chaotic times right now.

A new piano sound is here to be explored: the Vertical Concert Grand Klavins M450i. An Everest of sound, a friend commented - she may be right... :-)

Our Una Corda piano has been sampled and is available as a VSTi at Native Instruments - they did a great job, it's fascinating! Also take a look at The Giant from NI, the VSTi of our Model 370 vertical concert grand piano...

Love to express myself on the keyboard now and then, only improvising... sometimes it works out, sometimes not - like real life... :-) Actually I'm a piano builder, not a pianist... ;-)

I'm recording mostly using the Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol S88 keyboard, Reaper for DAW, and various Native Instruments sound libraries, sometimes live on the Una Corda.

Wish I had more time to explore all the fine musicians here - it's fascinating, always something new and inspirational to find, within the infinite world of music..!

Please be patient with me in case I'm not replying on your comments short term - I'm extremely busy building pianos... I definitely appreciate your remarks, ideas, suggestions, and will get back to you as I can afford..!
