Faux Pas is a high energy meditation on the things that matter to us. 

Frank, moody, and at times abrasive. The debut of Wellington post punk act The Pink Frosts features alternately crooning and wailing guitars, melodic synths, driving modulated bass lines, booming drums, and vocals that travel from introspective spoken word to seething rage.

Featuring a passionate and uncompromising ensemble of tracks that move seamlessly from 80's film style synth, to angsty and venomous punk. Faux Pas is a culmination of the music that moves us, both past and present. 

The contemporary lyrical themes of Faux Pas flirt between introspection, dissatisfaction, and tongue-in-cheek humour - lashing out at our own ineptitudes, as well as the woes of everyday life. 

This music was not made to please anyone but ourselves, but we sincerely hope you find something to love in these nine tracks.

A Smile Away

Post-punk is an umbrella term in music, so it makes sense that our latest love letter to it is sonically, and thematically diverse. 
At times intimate, at others, scathing. Warm melodies, bitter grunts, and crashes. A dance of harmonious rhythms, with varied lyrical delivery styles to suit different tones, and intents. 

Unremarkable Product made itself. One of us would make a noise, the rest of us would respond. The songs fell in to place. Refined through performing them to both strangers, and loved ones. 
The EP serves as a concise package that exemplifies our joyous exploration of what will happen if we keep pushing ourselves to try new things. 

We are a live band, and the EP was recorded as such. Production was utilized with the intent of conveying our live sound. 

Lyrical themes that delve in to the bittersweet territory of reminiscence, the undying struggles of just coping, and more. All found within this truly Unremarkable Product.

The Pink Frosts EP. Serving as both a homage to our existing body of works, as well as a farewell to our fans. The thing that sets it apart first and foremost is actually in the production process.
That is, the distinct lack of one. The EP is a recording of us performing the songs. Back to back. ONE take. Recorded straight to tape through 8 channels. Entirely analog, up until we digitized it and made sure that none of the audio levels spiked too high for streaming platforms to handle.
It was an experiment, and the production/recording method itself an extension of the prevailing sense of play that we share through The Pink Frosts.

And a sense of play, combined with the creative safe space that the members of The Pink Frosts have curated, is exactly what defines what this project has been all along.
With the safety of our creative space we’ve had the freedom to traverse musical ideas that might seem unconventional to some. The freedom to explore, and express deeply personal thoughts. Ugly thoughts. Dissatisfactions. Successes. Everything in between.
Across these 4 tracks, we double down on the extensive list of musical influences we’ve explored, and touch on new thematic, and tonal territories.

The cover of the EP acts as another distillation of what this EP is. It’s a celebration of what we’ve done, through referencing a few fan-favourite tracks. Much like the recording process itself, It’s far from over-edited. It’s an expression of us just having some fun. We take ourselves seriously, absolutely. But that does noone any good if It’s not a good time. 

And that’s all for now. In order to stay true to the sense of play, and the creative safe space, we need to leave The Pink Frosts be for now. I believe there’s something beautiful in walking from the thing you love, from a place of love, to safeguard what it is that you love about it. 
In letting go, The Pink Frosts preserves the integrity of intent. It will never be a bastardization of itself.
