Barcelona-based and ramen lover Baldo, also known under the moniker of BLD, is easily one of Spain’s most respected undergound talents and a fervent contributor to the local eletronic music scene. First influenced by UK Breakbeat from the 90s, he started his musical house career more than 10 years ago and has now been establishing himself as a luscious selector and producer, digging deep and raw house vibes covered with subtle acid touches. Consequently, most of his productions have been warmly welcomed by high-visibility labels such as Running Back, Step Recordings or Let’s Play House. Besides, he has also been running countless high-potential projects such as Neovinyl, Subwax Distribution, Physical Education, BLD Tape Recordings or Curated by Time. Longtime resident of the famous Razzmatazz club and regular guest at Spain’s top festivals (Sonar, DGTL), expect him to be finely captivating the crowd along the likes of Move D, Gerd Janson or Jeremy Underground. Although the global pandemic stopped him a bit in his tracks, he is now fully back on the scene for the enjoyment of everyone.

Baldo has channeled his focus on recording a genuine and meaningful house set, gathering tracks from Rob Pearson, Paramida or Juan Atkins. After playing it a few times, you will have the feeling the cold winter nights are already behind you!

DOTT joins the Boiled Wonderland Records show with a mix playing only his own production to celebrate his upcoming release on the label. This mix celebrates his qualities as a DJ and producer, mixing dark techno orientated breaks and darker tones.

An EP packed with slicing hats and dynamic basslines, Sense of Tension is a perfect collection of dancefloor grooves from Thai producer DOTT and his next EP for Boiled Wonderland. Opening track ‘Sense of Tension’ combines moody basslines with floaty driven chords whilst flaring hi-hats cut seamlessly throughout. The title track molds between minor dreamy chords and high cut synths creating a divine level of contrast which sets any dancer's pulse raising. On A2 ‘Among the Lines’ sees DOTT take the tempo down a pitch, bringing a cerebral quality to his music as detuned synths float alongside driven claps and tranquil vocal samples. On the flip side DOTT opens with ‘Detuning Your Mind’, adding a minimal influence to the music with complex driven kick patterns and dynamic jazz samples wash throughout. B2 brings in Boulderhead, a Bristol based producer who adds a funky flip to ‘Detuning Your Mind’. Boulderhead who has a string of well received releases on labels such as Craigie Knowes and Rhythm Section holds nothing back on the remix - delivering a grooving base and euphoric set of synth lines to the track, sure to make any dancefloor move.

Spring has finally arrived and Berlin is in full blossom once again. Time to bring in someone, who not only knows how to throw a good party, but is an absolute ace behind the decks himself. For this month's episode of our podcast series we are stoked to invite Thabo and warm all of you up for his upcoming 65h home again club festival happening this weekend at RSO Berlin. Something you definetly should not miss!

Berlin’s Thabo is not a new name in the city’s underground. After having built his reputation as a promoter, seasoned DJ, and prolific producer, Thabo reinvented himself as an artist. The Berliner, real name Nils Thabo Gelfort, changed his moniker to Thabo in pursuit of artistic authenticity.

Thabo’s authenticity is present across his house-oriented productions and DJ sets, which are often soulful, yet energetic. It is also apparent on his label, Home Again, which was launched in 2020 as a natural progression born from the beloved underground party of the same name. Just like the party series, which is aimed at creating the perfect house party, the imprint embodies Thabo’s vision of running a record label. Although Home Again is Thabo’s brainchild, the Berliner has teamed up with like-minded individuals to make sure that everything from artist and repertoire, creative design, events, to capsule collections is in line with the imprint’s ethos.

With several stellar releases and a roster featuring artists like Sandilé, Szafran, Thalo Santana, Subjoi, Leo Pol, DJOKO and Malin Genie, and Thabo, the imprint has quickly gained momentum, grabbing the attention of house heads in Berlin and beyond.

With a growing touring schedule and a number of releases in the pipeline, Thabo will continue making crowds dance with his uplifting house sounds for years to come.

 本名Thomas Wendel 、ベルリン在住。1981年、旧東ドイツブランデンブルク州、ヴィッテンベ ルクに生まれる。幼年期から十代にかけクラシック音楽を学ぶかたわら、エレクトリックミュージック へ興味を強め、14歳でコンピューターを使い楽曲制作を始める。時を同じくして旧ソビエト連邦軍撤退後の駐屯地跡地や待避壕を不法占拠したパーティーや地元のクラブで DJ としてのキャリアをスタート、レジデントを務める。1999年、18歳で自らのテクノレーベルTokomak を立ち上げ、Tresorで3ヶ月おきのレーベルナイトを主催。トライバルテクノをベースとしたサウンドはJuan Atkins、Derrick May、Claude Young、Mark Broom、DJ Rolando、Ben Sims、Samuel L Sessionなど多くのDJたちに愛用される。レーベル運営を通しUKテクノのベテラン、Mark Broomの目に留まりPure Plastic、更にサブレーベルである Rewired Recordsから2002年、2003年と続けて4枚のソロEPをリリース。またロンドンのスタジオでともに制作したトラックは後年二人の名義で 100%Pure、Styrax Records からリリースされている。
 TresorでのDJ Shinedoeとの出会いを通し、2003年アムステルダム・テクノシーンへ進出。3台のターンテーブルを駆使したグルーブ感溢れるフロアミックスは、アムステルダムのオーディエンス だけでなく共にプレイしたShinedoe、100% PureレーベルオーナーでもあるDylan Hermelijnこと2000 and One をも熱狂させた。2004年、ベルリンのテクノレーベルStyrax Records、Styrax Leaves の立ち上げにともないアドバイザーとしてビジネススタートをサポート、レーベルロゴやアートワークを受け持つ傍ら、自らも楽曲を提供する。2005年には自らのレーベル活動を再開。ディープハウスレーベルMojuba Recordsは高品質のサウンドとハンドメイドによる希少性の高さで固定のファン層を確立、Luciano、Ricardo Villalobos、Richie Hawtin、Sven Väth、Tobi Neumannなどによってプレイされる。1年後にはサブレーベルA.R.T.lessをスタート。Mojuba Records、A.R.T.lessのデトロイトテクノ、ディープテクノを指針とする楽曲の数々はドイツの権威あるテクノマガジン「Groove」誌上にて多くのDJからの支持を集め、DJチャート3位内にランクイン、それを裏付けるようにDonの"Detroit Black EP"はEllen AllienのFabric Mix CD Seriesに、またその他のトラックは Sven Vaeth、Tobi NeumannのMix CDにピックアップさ れている。現在はベルリンを起点にBerghain/Panorama Barや Tresorでプレイする一方、自らもパ ーティーを主催し精力的に活動している。
またOracyとしてのリリースはいままでDonのシークレット・プロジェクトとして正体を明かさずにいたが、今回の来日を機会にそのベールを脱いだ。

―このミックスの収録場所を教えてください。
 
このミックスは自宅のスタジオで収録したんだ。みんながテレビの前でサッカーに釘付けの暖かい夏にね（笑）
 
 
─使用した機材を教えてください。
 
Technics SL-1200 MK5に針が Shure M44-7、DJミキサーはCrest PerformanceのCP6210とCP 6220（ロータリーフェーダー）そしてBozakのIso-Xのアイソレーター、あとは小汚い未来からの機材たちかな（笑）
 
 
 
─自身の曲を使用しましたか？
 
 
いや、使ってないよ。僕は自分の曲はあんまり使わないんだ。なぜなら制作してる間、マスタリングとかで何回も聴くことになるから飽きてしまうのと、プレイしてる時にどうやってこの曲を作ったかと思い出しちゃったりしてさ。実際でもリリース前の曲をテストで使わなといけない時もあるから、その時はプレイするよ。
 
 
 
―ミックスのコンセプトを教えて下さい。
 
これは少し前にベルリンのabout blankというクラブがあって、そこの外のフロア（ガーデン）でDJした時のミックスなんだ。パーティーのバイブスを掴みにいった時のモノだよ。
 
 
 
 ─近況と最近の活動について教えてください。
 
 
最近は音楽よりも生活で忙しいよ（笑）でも、答えなきゃね。最近は僕のレーベル事で忙しかったよ。Nick Soleというアーティストのもう間もなくリリースされるデビューアルバムの制作をしてたんだ。
あとSTEREOCiTIの新しいシングルも間もなくリリースされるよ。自分の曲に関しては、現在Goldwillのリミックスを終わらせたよ。あと日本へむけたコンピレーションをMojubaからリリースする曲もできたよ。
 
 
 
─今後のDJスケジュールを教えてください。
 
自分のドイツでのレギュラーパーティーとパリやアイルランドも決定しているよ。あと日本も行くよ。すべてのギグが本当に楽しみで普段のリアルライフから脱出？休暇のつもりで楽しむよ（笑）
 
 
─日本にツアーで来る予定はありますか？
 
イエス！僕は３箇所ツアーで日本を回るよ。7月20日（金）はSTEREOCiTiとelevenで彼のMIX CD"Never Trust A DJ"のリリースパーティーでプレイするんだ。日本のみんなと会えることを楽しみにしてるよ。
