"Can you have emotion without being emo? The Pleading answers with a resounding, soul-gripping "Yes." The band itself is rather phoenix-like, having recently risen from hiatus in a new incarnation that, while familiar to some, promises a fresh experience to old and new fans alike. They're back with more stories to tell, more life stories to draw from, and a message to spread.

True to the name, the band entreats the audience to look within themselves--a mission that can range from uncomfortable to cathartic as we feel what it truly means to be human, to be fallen, and to live with a population whose shortcomings are just as numerous as our own.

Tracks like "Fade Away" illustrate the pain of loss and regret, mourning action not taken ("How I waited for so long before seeking the truth"), while "One Alone" ends with the bittersweet triumph of choosing to endure a less than perfect life ("I'm afraid / To see another sunrise [...] But, I realize that the truth is that I want to stay alive").

Most of all, The Pleading asks its listeners to become a part of something. Regardless of background, race, orientation or belief, "they can find something in it that their spirit can connect to," says vocalist Cecil. "This is not a gimmick or image band." And, despite how heavy the subject matter can be, behind the wall of intensity, there are some easy going guys who just love to play."
