Paving the way for the new era of DJs, Lexer’s ascension to deep house superstar has been rapid since turning his hand to production in 2012, with the likes of Bakermat, Oliver Schories, Klangkarussel, Alle Farben and Tom Novy all supporting the German’s signature sound. Joining the dots between Europe’s hottest cities, the promising trailblazer can reminisce back on a packed touring schedule with performances from Amsterdam to Zurich, Berlin to Paris - not to mention plenty of festivals appearances in between. 

Now with his impending release on Kittball, Lexer delivers yet another reason for industry leaders to take heed of his talents. Melodic breakdowns and a pensive hook are the reasoning behind the title of ‘Thoughtful’, a track that emits sunshine and solstice with every lasting note. The rumbling kick drums of ‘Rusty Heart’ make for a heavier number, whilst playful bass stabs, charming melodies and glorious strings make for a testament to Lexer’s rocketing talents as a producer.

First up on remix duties is Kittball favourite in.deed, whose rendition of ‘Rusty Heart’ introduces a fuzzy bass hook and sultry atmospherics to a positively upbeat cut. Pulling apart the original and reconstructing it into a completely different creature, Ron Flatter then ties up the release with a stripped back and understated renovation that saunters along amiably.

The Anjunadeep Edition 17 with Martin Roth

Released to critical acclaim in May 2014, Tim Penner and "The Tunnel" EP extended the musical boundaries of one of Toronto's leading underground dance acts further still. Now returning with companion track "Ride Til Dawn", Penner's work once again takes centre stage with remixes from Canada and the UK.

Fellow Canadian, Biologik, has joined Penner at the cutting edge of the modern underground scene. An internet radio pioneer responsible for the co-foundation of the Proton Radio concept, the last two years have seen Biologik forge a raft of releases for some of the finest imprints including OLD SQL, Lowbit and Olaris. Furthermore, three full-length albums can be attributed to the Biologik name. Hitting Proton Music in January 2013, the best-selling "One Month" laid the foundations for Stellar Fountain's "Two" to follow in November of the same year, becoming a coveted Beatport 2013 "Album of the Year". Illustrating a further side to his talent, July 2014's third offering for Silk Sofa provided a window into Biologik's soul as a dozen tracks provided the heartbeat of a downtempo sound that the Canadian felt compelled to write.

A long-term friend of both the Proton Music and Particles labels, a plethora of original and remix material has seen the Biologik name hit the heights, while a recent mix for the Visceral series demonstrated a wealth of talent and musical knowledge. Returning now to remix Tim Penner, the Biologik remix of "Ride Til Dawn" is an eloquent interpretation that makes intelligent use of the themes fundamental to the original mix, as soft pads combine with melodic motif that swims across a strong rhythmic bed in delightfully delayed and reversed ingenuity to create an impressive work.

UK producer, Anthony Yarranton, hit the headlines after debut work for Baroque in 2010. Since then, a production style that has found favour with the full spectrum of leading underground labels has seen his work reach the catalogues of Dopamine, Lowbit, and a strong relationship with fellow countryman, Che Armstrong and his Axon imprint. Indeed, it is with the latter that a clutch of original and remix material has found favour, including a standout recent remix of Yarranton's "Bohemian Groove" from Scotty.A. A regular DJ with "Room2Move" club nights, Yarranton's recent performances in Holland and Greece has also been greeted with much success.

Following up the success of "Bag of Bells" on the "Summer Particles 2013" compilation and subsequent solo release with remixes from Lateral Cut Groove, Danny Lloyd and Kacper Kostecki, a forthcoming debut EP for Proton Music is accompanied here by a pair of "Ride Til Dawn" remixes. A hypnotic groove forms the backbone for a rework that evolves gradually over its seven-minute voyage, subtly involving the melodies from Penner's original, blended with atmospheric landscapes that add further textural layers. A downtempo reprise marks the foundation for a "Chillout Mix" that features a rolling break-beat groove that lilts gently as soft pads and core motifs from the original build to mesmerising, resonant effect.

Propelled forward by new remixes from Biologik and Anthony Yarranton, Tim Penner's "Ride Til Dawn" looks set to journey onwards for some time to come.
