With her persuasive cross-cultural message, vocalist and songwriter MAYSSA KARAA defines a new era of musical inclusion. Her songs tell of a journey connecting her origins in the ancient land of Lebanon to her adopted home of Los Angeles, California. She is about to launch her full-length English solo debut, SIMPLE CURE.

"Call Me a Stranger"--the album's opening track-really captures the story MAYSSA tells on her album “SIMPLE CURE”. "I went into the studio angry," she remembers. "I have been in the U.S. for 11 years, almost half of my life, but sometimes I feel like I am in between two places, like I have lost a part of my identity. Every time I meet someone who doesn't know about my part of the world, I am compelled to tell them about the richness of my culture and traditions." After sharing these emotions with her producer, he suggested that she turn these truths into lyrics. 
"Richard turned my anger into creativity," MAYSSA says.

my mom was taken away by cancer and the treatments that so many don't make it through. she struggled for years and finally lost. she was an amazingly loyal and caring person and above all a great mother to me and my 2 siblings, a wife to my father, and human to the world.

this song was written right after my mother passed away. the night of is what I refer to as far as the emotion and the direction everything takes for this song. this was me going through hell and watching my mom take her last breaths in front of me and my family. we all watched and exploded into tears in the room, leaving it and continuing in the hallway as we all comforted each other. that night I don't remember the drive home but I do remember going home alone and going to all the places she would sit like a lost dog. walking in the street in front of our house confused and torn to pieces.

that is a moment I will never forget and I will always be back in September.
