The new hard-hitting dubbed out track from The Premiums, "Candy," crosses boundaries between rock, experimental, and electronic music. The Premiums will be releasing the cut as the A side to their upcoming Record Store Day 7" release. The Premiums description of "work" playfully describes the struggle of having to work day in and day out for what never seems to amount to enough.  The progressive and rhythmically energetic riffs tossed between bass, guitar, and drums combine with the teasing vocal to create a perpetually bouncing feel, which is irresistibly danceable.  The track "Work" appears as the B side to The Premiums' upcoming Record Store Day 7" release. Work

Combining just the right balance of funk, rock, and experimental jamming, "Lady Funk" is a musical mistress leaving nothing to be desired.  Over the course of the song, the lyrics explores what it means to be without that indescribable someone, and the search that ensues.  While the bass and drums bubble along, the guitar and horns compliment the vocal melody with the grace of Earth Wind & Fire and intensity of Fela Kuti's Africa '70.  With a shout chorus in the fashion of KC & the Sunshine Band or Average White Band, the tune screams for you to throw all of your inhibitions to the wind and to dance with the irresistible madame, the evanescent Lady Funk. Lady Funk

We wrote and recorded "Pulled Apart" as an ironically fun way to look at a relationship on the brinks.  While the love depicted in the song is slowly deteriorating and being pulled limb from limb, the insistent groove and percolating one-drop rhythm will keep your feet dancing.  The song comes to an epic climax and the meat falls straight off the bone with an effected guitar/bass unison line that blasts into the stratosphere.  "Pulled Apart" is a part of The Premiums self-titled EP.  The song was written, recorded, and produced by Caleb Nordhaugen, Kevin Israel, Alex Hamberger, and Brett Miller, and mastered by Ian Combs.

Over a loping dub groove, the message of "The Good" implores listeners to drop all of the negativity in their life in order to see the light again and return to a more positive path.  While the mood oscillates between cautionary and revelatory, the vibe remains intense throughout.  "The Good" was released on The Premiums' self-titled debut EP, was written, recorded, and produced by Caleb Nordhaugen, Kevin Israel, Alex Hamberger, and Brett Miller, and was mastered by Ian Combs.

"Barks Bite" comes straight off of The Premiums' self-titled debut EP and showcases the band's penchant for aggressively rhythmic and propulsive style.  This tune has been described by dedicated fans as "the first ultimately Premiums-esque song," and never fails to fill dance floors. Since the fall of 2009, the four funky lads in The Premiums have been making music to dance to all around the Midwest.  Vocalist Caleb Nordhaugen, guitarist Kevin Israel, and drummer Brett Miller solidified their music-making goals when they joined bassist Alex Hamberger in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 2011.  A music editor for City Pages noted in 2013, "The Premiums bring a truly funky sound that gets people on their feet and dancing, mixing high energy rhythms from Jamaica to Motown."  So far, the band has written, recorded, and released a 7-track self-titled EP, and is in the advent of a special limited edition 7" release, which is in motion to be ready for Record Store Day 2014.  With a  mission to stay funky, The Premiums hope to see you spring into action and move your body, no matter how cold the Minnesota winter may get.
