I haven't recorded myself singing since my schooldays, and this was done on an mp3 player, so be kind (ha!)  I decided to do it after a member of the Australian band the Kin said my voice had character.  (???)  Agree?

In the winter of 2010, we were faced by the terrible prospect of BBC 6music getting cut, thanks to the musings of Director-General Mark Thompson. Eventually, it was by sheer power of the people, the 6music listening public, that saved our beloved alternative radio station. (We like to think anyway.)

This is a poem I wrote for the cause. Seeing that I wasn't in London for the demonstrations, I never got to stand up on a soapbox to recite it, but instead I'm posting it here for anyone who wants to hear it.

For purists, I've chopped hidden track 'The Towans' off the end of the closing track on 'Wind and the Wires' (otherwise there's a massive gap between the end of 'Land's End' and the start of 'The Towans' to the end of the track).

The work is done and the record pressed

I am a music journalist, poet, singer,  bass player, and all around good person. Jonathan Higgs of Everything Everything once called me a clever girl. I'd like to live in the North of England, hopefully that'll happen soon enough. ♥ &#13;
I love electronic and dance music.  As pointed out correctly by Steve Lamacq in an interview with BBC Radio 6 Music in November 2008 I am "a sucker for the synth". But really, I'm open to all sorts of good music.  Expect excellent songs and bits of interview I'm partial to, plus the occasional experimental bits and bobs by me here.
