Continuing a strong start to the year, Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint welcomes Domingo + back to the label for his first solo EP. As one half of the Mariner + Domingo duo, American artist Chris Domingo has compiled an impressive resume across an eighteen-month stretch. Upon making his debut on Balkan Connection in July of 2020, the Florida resident went on a remarkable run, landing releases via 3rd Avenue, Proton Music, RYNTH, and The Purr. Perhaps his most comfortable landing spot was Madloch's long-standing Sound Avenue imprint, where Mariner + Domingo released ten originals across ten months, none more impactful than ‘Another Life' and ‘Inertia', which earned play and support from Lee Burridge and Sebastien Leger respectively.
Now embarking on his future musical endeavors in solo capacity, Domingo + returns to Sound Avenue with a two-track showcase entitled ‘Hardway'.

As Domingo + continues to operate at a creative peak, it is the jubilant sounds of ‘Hardway' which set the course for this new career path. Played out over seven sun-drenched minutes, a storyboard of vocal fragments and Mediterranean motifs gets intertwined with chunky bass tones, clustered chimes, and dusty percussion. Sitting at the heart of the journey, a spirited interlude carries the youthful spirit of the vocal, set against a backdrop of aquatic cascades, before eventually melting down into a glowing finale.

Coming in deeper and more organic is the companion piece ‘Falling Apart'. Acting as an ideal complement to its predecessor, a forest of exotic drums and juxtaposed vocal phrasing paints a contemplative narrative. Mysterious and mystical, the main break furthers the affectionate vocal, sitting amidst muted tones and flickering percussion, before giving way to an unassuming drop and tastefully restrained conclusion. It rounds out two exceptional tracks from Domingo +, who not only makes a triumphant return to Sound Avenue, but gets his solo endeavors off to a tremendous start.

As the northern hemisphere’s summer season kicks into gear, Guy J’s Lost & Found label is set to raise the bar yet again with another exceptional release. Sometimes music sounds like it is made in heaven and maybe this is one of those moments?

With an illustrious career stretching over two decades, Chico Shuella has become one of Israel’s most respected and sought after DJs and producers. An accomplished pianist (with an exceptionally keen ear for musical harmony), he operates under his Chicola production moniker and has transformed the underground house scene in his homeland while making giant strides on a global scale.

A musical connoisseur of the highest order, Chicola takes his time, building mood and heightening anticipation. The solid, basic, percussive intro to “Childhood” gives little away about what is to come, before simple, heart-melting melancholic chords rise up and create a cathedral of heart-wrenching beauty. It is this interplay between mournful and sanguine emotions that can make music so extraordinarily mind-blowing. For those who believe that music can affect people on a deeper, universal, emotional level, and can thus unite people, this is music to treasure. This is music to hold close to your heart.

Highly respected Argentinian music masters, Hernan Cattaneo & Soundexile’s take on such an exceptional original piece of music is to build a laidback, summery, subtly evolving groove, whilst adding discordant abstract experimentalism, interwoven alongside those heavenly original elements to create a bold remix interpretation.

A long-time friend of Proton Music, Andre Sobota, continually impresses with a growing catalogue of original material. Returning to the label, he excels once again with his "Alter Ego".

Consistently at the cutting edge of underground dance music with an ability to cross-over into the mainstream without compromising his sound, Andre Sobota continues to shine. From an official remix of Coldplay and Rihanna's "Princess of China" for EMI to multiple appearances on BBC Radio 1, Sobota's ability to find the pulse of modern dance music is unerring. Moreover, the Brazilian's work for a host of high-calibre imprints has seen him recognised as a master of sound design and melodic phrasing. A regular on the likes of Anjunadeep, Toolroom and microCastle, a half-century of credits for the latter has seen the Andre Sobota's music create a unique following among peers and fans alike. A frequent contributor to Particles and Proton Music since a debut for the latter in November 2009, Sobota quickly found a place in the Proton hall of fame with his remarkable "One Day Out" EP a month later. A host of remixes followed from the likes of Shingo Nakamura, Cid Inc. and Kassey Voorn before a four-year hiatus saw him return with a sublime new interpretation of his debut EP under the cleverly titled "5 Years Outside". New tracks in "Signal", "Concluded" and "Fragments" shone brightly, before two further offerings in July 2017's "Unmute" and June 2018's "Robots", showcased a quartet of tracks reinvigorated further by remixes from Nicolas Rada, Silinder and GMJ and Matter.

Following a remix of Dutch artist, Deeparture, in November 2018, Andre Sobota now returns with the stunning three-track, "Alter Ego". The title track is immediately characterised by a trademark rhythmic framework that provides the perfect vehicle for a rich series of melodies to shimmer into sonic range backed by a gloriously deep and rasping bassline. Building with ease and full of dancefloor intensity, sustained chords and reverb-drenched effects create a mid-point pause before the chunky groove and melodic components pick up the pace in the second half.

"Dreamless" immediately appeals with rolling rhythmic structure and haunting vocal phrasing redolent in complex effects processing. A strong kick supplies dynamic energy as a plucked arpeggio in the breakdown opens up into a sparkling melodic jewel in the third movement. The result is a trademark track Andre Sobota gem.

Final track, "Left Behind", continues the dance floor theme with a pounding beat opening proceedings, before a richly textured and sustained chord heralds a shaker-driven percussive cadence and club-friendly bass groove. Continuing at unrelenting pace, a glistening chord progression comes to the fore as it pans across the stereo spectrum in modulated brilliance at the mid-point. Hitting its straps again in the second half, Sobota's skill is in full evidence as an expertly constructed track evolves from start to finish.

A new musical triptych finds Andre Sobota very much in the limelight with his new "Alter Ego".
