This mix bears nearly three hours of winding explorations as James DJed for a lounge of interlocking bodies: 
–drifters in obscure motion and silent during a non-verbal hour.

There were paper and pens, so people wrote and drew to each other instead of talking. They would also mime, or speak with the body.

For December's event at Limehouse Town Hall, James will bring a fascinating set of ambients for dream or dance.

The fiftieth edition of PHANTASYMIX arrives courtesy of our most recent signing, Factory Floor. Mixed and curated by both Nik Colk Void alongside long-term label associate Gabe Gurnsey, as well as new member Joe Ward, this momentous contribution to the label’s long-running series captures and combines many of the cult British band’s core influences, spanning New Order to Dean Blunt, Sandwell District, Drexciya and The Fall. Loaded with the band’s experimental, outsider spirit it’s a fine hour of physical, potent outsider music, including their recent single on Phantasy, ‘Between You’.

For Eris’s mixtape “Raving Disco Breaks Vol. 1”, she uses old records to create a new style out of fragments. Many of the selections have been featured heavily in her live DJ sets, including her b2b sets with Octo Octa. Eris accumulated these records slowly, over decades, but it wasn’t until touring last year that she realized a “sound” coalesced in her bag. What does a rave at the disco sound like? Kinda like everyone took ecstasy at the roller rink. On her ecstatic mix, Eris colleges together a genre by scratching-in breaks with horn samples, mixing Disco House with broken beats, dropping Miami Bass jams with Boogie keys and blending Rave tunes with disco vocals. On the mix Eris utilizes turntable techniques such as “doubles” tricks and “hot mixing”—a fast-paced mixing style inspired by her beloved B96 Mixmasters, Chicago’s most popular 1990’s radio DJs. Like all of Eris’s mixes, she weaves strong narratives of embodiment, defiance, cultural transcendence and personal triumph (a classic disco emotion) into a flow of body rockin’ beats, scratches, drops, and sweet melodies. The result is a bass heavy summertime house mix for the psychedelic bad girls, boys and enbys.

 The recording can be streamed on the T4T LUV NRG SoundCloud for free and hi-resolution versions are available for download on the label’s Bandcamp (donation requested). All profits  from Eris’s mix will be donated to the Sylvia Rivera Law Project (SRLP), which works to guarantee that all people are free to self-determine their gender identity and expression, regardless of income or race, and without facing harassment, discrimination, or violence.

Bleep favourites Modeselektor have just celebrated 10 years and 100 releases of their Monkeytown Records label with a compilation titled ’10 Years of Monkeytown’.

Over the years the label has hosted a number of diverse voices that have all been housed under the same umbrella due to the the duo’s sharp ear for a great tune, whether related to dancefloor rhythms or ambient bliss. Underground Resistance is probably the most important Detroit record label since Motown: their sound and attitude emerged in the early '90s as the most uncompromising one from the Motorcity, it was pivotal in shaping US and European Techno, started the resurgence of 90's Electro, but most of all indelebly marked the consciousness of thousands of people around the world who share their messages of resistance and hope.
And last but not least, they did so many amazing records!

So, 30 years has passed since UR-001 came out in 1990.
Since UR and 'Mad' Mike Banks were so influential for me, not just sonically but mostly on the attitude side of things, I decided to go thru all my 12"s and make a retrospective tribute mix to celebrate this anniversary.

At first I wanted to pick 30 tracks only and keep it compact but so many great ones were left out.. so I just started and at the end I used 60+ tracks! Almost all the classics are there, plus a fair share of lesser known tunes which really shine as well in my opinion. All from the UR catalogue only. No Z-tracks unfortunately :)

I really hope to have done justice to their sound, and I hope as well that the listeners will enjoy the ride, have the chance to discover some amazing music, and maybe feel the energy and pride and love that Mike Banks and the UR crew put into the music and pressed into the grooves.
